Hi all, new to the forum but i've been using Sonar x1 studio for a few years.
Recently and for no reason that i can work out my midi inputs dissapeard in sonar.
Running windows 10, m-audio firewire 410, novation sl25 compact as control surface / device.
Tried....
Changing power saving for usb to prevent windows from shutting them down.
Re-installing device drivers.
Disabling windows audio.
Physically plugging usb cables into various different sockets.
Updating / all patches sonar and automap

Arrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh

Windows shows the remote sl in device manager
Automap won't connect to it at all and Sonar doesn't list the device in preferences > midi devices.

Can anyone please, please, please help?

P.s. all was working fine until yesterday (31st aug 2016)

Either the unit left you (which you should check by hooking it to another PC with some MIDI application), some update/software installation broke something (check recent install) or some other application in the background is using and locking the MIDI ports (?)

I remember my Seaboard RISE49 sometimes takes long to get recognized by Sonar too,
I believe it's more of a problem in operating system, because it predefines it as different MIDI device for each USB port,
do you have any other device apart from mouse+keyboard plugged in any of the USB ports ?

Massive thanks for your replies. Problem solved......
In my sudden panic (and yes following a windows update), i'd lost the m-audio unit, this had happend before and the fix is to disable win audio driver.

I think i accidentally disabled the audio manager as well / instead. After re-enabling this, re-installing automap etc.... all is working properly again! Whew!
Again my thanks for your help....

What fun it is to be using old peripherals with modern operating systems!

Still I'm sure others may have the same or similar experiences so hopefully this post may assist some other unfortunate.
