I only have one VST3 installed, Fabfilter Twin, which akso has a VST2. What the value of VST3, or isn't their any in Sonar. I understand the synth is the same, it's just a management difference, but I don't what that is.

well, in most cases VST3 is what you should use,
sometimes though, VST3 versions do not work with Sonar,
or sometimes when you wanna migrate presets/settings of the VSTs, then you need same version since it's not inbetween compatible (e.g. VST2 only VST2)

Cool, thanks Craig. I can't see any stand out reasons for using fabfilter Twin as a VST3, apart from maybe the VST 3 version doesn't do 64bit. So I removed the VST2 option to keep things tidy. It dawned on me a have so vew plug ins, that I may as well remove all the sub folders and have them in the main menu, just have them all. Differeny story for the FX, the new plug in layout sits me very well

Also remember that SONAR does a strict implementation of VST3. So it's possible a company could put out a refined version of a VST2 plug-in but the VST3 could have some loose ends, in which case you're better off using the VST2 version. Uncharted territory...

So VST2 of 3 then. May as well everything else is VST 2
