 Black Grand

The magnificent Steinway D, recorded in a concert hall for the true concert grand experience. Three different microphone perspectives, Close, Ambient and Medium Ambiance that you can mix together. Incredible 48 samples/note cut's this sampled instrument in a class of it's own.

The MkII

Since the samplers has been become more advanced and the Black Grand still are one of our most popular pianos, we decided to bring it up to date and add some functions in the line of the original ideas.
In the MkII all microphone perspectives are included so you can use them one by one, of mix to taste!
We also added hammerback and pedal noise samples.
Then we added our True Resonance feature and used Kontakts scripting facilities to make Real Time/True Pedaling, Sympathetic Resonance and some other nifty features, and, Voila: The Black Grand MkII
  • 16 velocity levels
  • More the 7300 samples
  • TimeVel Release Technology ™
  • Sympathetic Resonance
  • Controllable volume for key/pedal noise
  • Controllable volume for Sympathetic Resonance and True Resonance
  • Three microphone perspectives
  • 24 bit 44.1 stereo samples
You'll need minimum Kontakt 4 full version. It will open in the free player, or with a player that came with another Kontakt instrument, but only in a demo mode. That means that there's a time limitation/session.
Download is about 6 Gb.

MSRP $199 / Intro $79.00 until April 13

There is an upgrade path for SampleTekk Black or Black Grand owners. $39 until 30th April.

As SampleTekk black retails for $99 and is a Kontakt Player instrument and this new one will retail for $199 and need the full version of Kontakt one would expect this to be a significant upgrade. The biggest difference I see the different microphone perspectives. Maybe Per will chip in and clarify why MK2 is better.

I view it as a redux so I'll delete the old version & replace it with MkII.
10 more files to dl & I'll find out.

You know, instead of cutting things like Emperor and Old Lady from the catalogue, I'd *love* to see this sort of revising (obv, without new mic perspectives!) as I've often found the nkis to sound great but be a bit finnicky.

I just corresponded with Per and he told me the decision to include SampleTekk Black owners to the upgrade offer was more of a courtesy since The Black Grand MkII isn’t really an upgrade to The Black.

What you are getting is the New Black Grand MkII for a much reduced price. It is refreshing to have quality library providers that care about their Customers.

Kind regards,
Rick

FYI you can load the older BG Close nki's into MKII.
Not sure how much they vary but Per said the samples haven't changed that much.

BUT I had a bizarre dos re-boot where my computer started fixing hundreds of lines of code stating 'adding missing zeros to rar files'.
I have no idea what that was about, never had that happen before.

Thanks for the update, I just got the White Mk 2 while it was on the intro offer. I am travelling so I have not had a chance to try it yet. Look like I may take advantage of the upgrade offer on this one too.

If I understand correctly the ones that were discontinued were not Sampletekk but PMI. I assume Sampletekk were just distributing them.

Well, I used my "upgrade" from Sampletekk Black and got Black Grand Mk II. I must say I am very happy with the purchase! A really good sounding piano, and for $39 its a bargain.

Hi Guys
About the PMI instruments. Yes, we have distributed these for some time, but now decided to stop doing that.
The BG MkII is basically the same samples as the Black Grand Close, Mid and Ambient perspective.
The BG MkII has ALL perspectives that you can blend to taste. It also has hammerback and pedal noise samples, real pedaling, sympathetic resonance and some other goodies!
The 79 USD intro offer is still on for a few days!
