I'm slogging my way through the 31 plugins under 05 Drums > 01 Dry Kits, looking for the sound of brushes on a ride cymbal, and am wondering if there's a better way than a serial "hunt-and-peck."

Any suggestions?

Sometimes it is easier to use the Windows search function to find sounds and patches. In this case, I do not believe that DimPro has samples of brushes on a ride cymbal. You could load the SD3 "SL Groovy Kit Bushes Rides.sfz" into DimPro.

Another variation to what scook said on that is to navigate in sonar media browser to the folder that contains the samples used in the kit and quickly audition each brush hit.  I have the locations of SD3 and dimension pro samples saved as a favorite in my media browser for quick access.

That is a good idea. I need to add the multisample dirs to the media browser.

I first "discovered" this trick when I realized Beatscape was useless but the samples were decent.  I got sick of navigating to them every time.  While doing that I decided to save shortcuts ot every cakewalk sample.  Much easier than loading a whole drum kit to audition each time.
