over time, we've see a lot of reported issues which are caused by not having the correct, e.g., VC++ runtime (or other) installed, the latest reports being the new drum replacer needing the everett build of platinum - the message said "you need platinum" but, crucially, not which flavour/build/version... so it seems to be doing a host check of sorts, but failing that
 
so my feature request is:
 
all installers should accurately check for any pre-requisites, and give some user feedback if any are found missing...
 
that's it, standard stuff, weird that they don't already check (and i don't mean host, that's commercial not technical) ... also potential for downloading missing components, etc, but just checking would at least be a start...
