  • Can we have a new "Themes" section to the Forum? (p.2)

Given that the Theme Editor is pretty new, it may be that this is a temporary thing with everyone rushing to try it out.  Once things settle down, I suspect the number of theme related posts will reduce to a level that may not warrant a dedicated section.

I would have to disagree. SONAR needs a dedicated theme forum to keep things organized and uncluttered. The REAPER folks recognized this early on and created a dedicated forum for discussing all things related to themes. It has become one of the more popular forums with literally tens of thousands of threads and posts. A dedicated SONAR Theme forum is a no brainer and Cake should make it happen!

I agree.  There's a ton of great info on this forum and it is already a chore keeping up with all of the posts.  It's really getting annoying having to dig through all the theme posts when I don't care at all about themes.

This has been a topic of discussion among the forum hosts for several days now. The consensus is that themes should be gathered into a sticky in the SONAR forum (like Elffin's utilities thread in the Software forum). A new sub-forum is unlikely at this time, as the whole forum will be undergoing major changes in the near future.

What we need is a volunteer to administer the themes thread. Anybody want to step up?

Hurray another stickie in the Sonar section. New post will be on the third page on a mobile soon.

Shame it's more than just themes you'd want to have. I don't see why a new forum coming up should stop a new section for the time being.

Yes, I agree that stickies clutter the topic listings and are a special nuisance for mobile users. It would be nice if the mobile version could optionally hide them.

But dedicating a subforum to every feature is impractical. Why not a subforum for Melodyne, or MIDI programming, or mastering? I could list a dozen topics that are brought up more frequently than themes.

But a themes collection is different, in that it constitutes a long-term reference that both new and experienced users might come to long after the novelty of making themes has worn off. It should therefore be easily accessible without having to do a search.

Melodyne isn't a cakewalk product. Melodyne hasn't created or would benefit from resources be made available. Melodyne won't be devleoped further by cakewalk. Melodyne belongs in third party software.

Melodyne is not a good example here.

Theme editor is not an audio piece of software, that makes it unique in this forum. Theme Editor isn't a 'feature' as such. It's more than just having a list of themes. The list of themes has already broken into two catagories, and that will just grow. Then is sharing things like icon. for those that delve creating elements, rather than just re-colouring. Sharing tips on different editors, FAQ. Problems listings.

Having it all stuffed under Sonar will do exactly what you say to avoid, make 'searching' more necessary, not less. And as everyone knows. the search option stinks.

Glad you guys got together and made up your minds.  So despite most posters seeing the point and it being a consensus that we should have a subforum , the host have had a closed discussion. It's all as pointless as the feature request forum.

I've been informed that Elffin has added themes to his existing sticky, so hopefully that'll satisfy everyone.

You are correct. It is more like the Plug-in Manager. An add on tool for configuring some aspect of SONAR.

All a host can do is support the current layout of the forum with the tools and access Cakewalk has supplied. Changes to the layout would be up to Cakewalk and the feature request has already been filed.

For now, as Bitflipper mentioned there is a sticky in the Software area which contains user contributions. It would be helpful for those creating themes or other content they wish to share to either post links on that thread or PM the OP of the thread with the details. Elffin has volunteered to maintain the data and the the list. The thread does get purged periodically so posts on the thread should be limited to requests for adding/updating files.

Will try to keep things updated as soon as possible.
Though the forum software dosn't always make it easy!

Thanks for Scook's consistent and reliable support.

No it''s not, just because plug in is none audio, for all the reason of potential and rescources and volumes of content that I've mentioned, if it's not yours to make. Which I agree it shouldn't and didn't even realise the post was aksing you guys anyway

'Feature requests' pfffff... I'm starting to think the bakers don't even know that part of the forum exists.
