  • [Solved] Warning - This plugin is only licensed...

On opening a project in Platinum (2006.07 22.7.0 build 41 x64) that had been created in X3e, the following message was displayed:

Warning
This plugin is only licensed to be used in Cakewalk Sonar X3 and above.
Internal processing will be bypassed and audio will pass through.

This hadn't happened the first few times I opened the project so I rebooted and tried again. Same message.

Eventually I managed to identify the offending plugin. It was Blueverb. I removed it and the message no longer appears. "Sonar X3 and above" doesn't make sense though.

Perhaps loading it into a dummy project in X3 would get it straight?

I got the same message in X3. All the BT plugins are behaving the same way too.

I'm not able to reproduce with my install of platinum. Do you see this error when you add that plug-in to a new project?

Yes.

I've re-installed the Blue Tubes plugins (using the Sonar X3 32-bit install). They are now working ok in 32-bit X3 and Platinum. But the message still occurs in the 64-bit versions.

It may be possible that the 64bit ones did not get updated when you ran the install. The Blue Tube Plug-ins are included with SONAR Platinum but they are in a separate installer. I would suggest installing them using the installer that comes with SONAR Platinum. You can do this by going to your account page and going to products. Find SONAR Platinum in the list and click on it. This will take you to a page that has all the included installers for SONAR Platinum. Select the Studio Mixing FX Suite and download it by clicking on link to the right.

Once you have this new installer downloaded you should run it and select 64bit as the install.

I didn't download any of the "Connected Products". Which ones are not included in X3?

The Blue Tube plug-ins are updated in the Studio Mixing FX Suite to work with Platinum. You will have to follow my previous instructions to get those working as far as I know. Those plug-ins were originally locked to SONAR X3 and had to be updated to respect the locking for Platinum which is why you'll need to download the Studio Mixing FX Suite included with Platinum.

Most of the changes from X3 to Platinum are included in the core app installer that is updated monthly because these are new features that were released in the app. There are several other additions like Rapture Session, The new LP EQ & LP MB, and many others that are included in the additional installers that come with Platinum. In your Product page you can read a brief description of what is included in each additional installer.

I've now installed the Studio Mixing FX Suite (64-bit). The error messages are no longer appearing, so this appears to have solved it.

I've also installed a couple of other things that I previously overlooked. Many thanks.
