I'm in the process of reinventing my little corner of the world again... (does it ever end?) and I'm a big fan of using the LAN when it makes sense. In my day job we've been using Ethernet to carry audio for a very long time now, and audio over IP over Ethernet is quickly gaining traction.
So I'm really curious abut the iconnectMIDI stuff. In addition to letting me place MIDI interfaces in the synth racks (which I can do with USB, but the distances are challenging), I kind of like the whole Win/Mac/iOS integration bit.
So I'm looking for some real world experiences, specifically about the Ethernet port and also the OS integration.
Anyone care to share?
aside: my other alternative is to re-purpose an older PC (WinXP) with a Frontier Design Dakota/Montana/Sierra interface, which gives me 32 audio inputs and an 8x8 MIDI interface, and they all play nicely with VEPro. I could also move some of my less demanding synths over to that machine if they are still supported<G>. And I'll probably end up doing both just to satisfy my curiosity...
