Got a weird one I submitted with a ticket but no reply (yet).
I have a mix that continues to play past the end of the song even though "Stop at Project End" is set.
I have checked all tracks, clips, automation lanes, bus lanes, markers, etc., and there is nothing out past the end of the song.  I also "selected all" and checked the Event List and it shows nothing out there either.  If I zoom to "fit project to window" it fits everything to the screen - no blank space on the right.

Not a big problem, just bothersome that SOMETHING is amiss or hidden somewhere.  Any ideas/seen this before?

It would be nice bakers if we could specify an end of the song somehow no matter what.

You mean like an "End" marker?  Yes.  Maybe there is one, IDK?

In Cubase I would create an empty audio event on it's own track and name it "song length".  It would typically be longer than all the clips so as to allow reverb tails, etc.  Whenever I wanted to render or zoom to whole project I would just click on that track.

Any way to create an "empty" track like that in CbB?

Do you have any hidden tracks ? At least when this happens to me, that's what's causing it . . . usually an automation on a hidden track, or one I just can't see easily on a non hidden track.
I usually have to create "start" and "end" markers, then select "from" and "thru" points when exporting to audio.

I like bitman's idea to have a hard end point, despite what might be out in the nether regions on various tracks.

There's also . . . EDIT . . . Delete Special, then checkbox "Delete Hole"
(after selecting all bars and tracks past the end of you project)
Sometime works, but doesn't work for me in every project scenario.

Are you using a virtual instrument with MIDI information in it?  I use EZ Keys by Toontrack frequently and if I construct the piano part in the EZ Keys instrument and don't get all of the MIDI transferred out of the instrument when I move it out to the sequencer it WILL play and it can sound like a mess if one isn't muted.  So that's one possibility if you use MIDI/virtual instruments.  Hope you solve your mystery.

Nope, all tracks are shown (per Track Manager)

Tried it - no change.

Nope, no virtual instruments in this project.

It is a very very old bug on Cakewalk daw.
You can try all kind of actions and research about something placed after the last bar and find absolutely nothing.
Therefore it is a bug.
It's a very long time that we implore bakers to find a solution.
As Bitman said I think the easiest way for users is that we could specify an end of the song somehow.
No matter what.
