Did you know that you can create Dolby certified encodes right from Sonar 8?

Sonar 8 comes with a free 14 day trial of SurCode for Dolby Digital and SurCode for Dolby Pro Logic II right in the box!

These are fully functional trials of Dolby certified encoders.

Just install SurCode and you can export your surrround mixes directly to SurCode and you can create surround encodes for DVD, Post Production. Games, Broadcast, Games, CDs iTunes and more.

It's easy. To see just how easy it is go to http://www.minnetonkaaudio.com/products/SONAR_SURCODE.html and check out the tutorial movie.

That's great news. I've been looking into the SurCode DTS-CD anyways. Too bad I don't have Sonar 8. Will it work inside Sonar 7?

You bet. It's just not bundled with 7 like it is in 8.

Hey, I use the PLII encoder now, and the results are great! The Surcode tools are pretty straight forward, although you will need to experiment a bit on downmixing (blend of SL and SL into L and R respectively).

I highly encourage people to venture into the PLII world. Most home audio receivers now have decoders, which on playback, will break the PLII signal into the 6 channels (5.1) for surround. Otherwise its normal stereo.

I have been recording live shows at a local theater, and mixed in surround, I am able get the presence of actually being in the theater. And with PLII, I can focus on one project file.

Yes - both SurCode for Dolby Digital and SurCode for Dolby Pro Logic II will work in Sonar 7.

I got and installed my upgrade.

The SurCode stuff was right there in the install disc. It was easy. I've been running the trials. The results sound great.

Do these deals still hold? I have sonar x3 and have not tried it before.

Oh, the link mentions that it is a GUI around the Aften encoder.  That is here:

Actually THIS looks like something even I could use....
http://www.waves.com/plugins/um225-um226 and its only $49.00

Never mind... Doesn't look to be Sonar compatible...
Click on Supported Hosts from the above link.
Reaper users...it will work there: REAPER 5.18 - 5.22 (VST3)
