I'm getting virus warnings from getpaint.net.

Cakewalk suggest using this program, but I can't see a link from them. www.paint.net isn't a a website for a graphics program.  I tried techrader, which tried installing Norton, then failed.

I think I safe link should be provided if they are going to have a big advert for them.

It's a 6.7mb zip file.  If you PM me your email I could perhaps send it to you in an attachment...?

Cool thanks.

Tried GIMP, results were a little clunky, probably need to work at it, but experiments are failing

False positive?  You could download the exe and have it scanned online.

erm... didn't realize Cake were promoting graphics tools.

Might I recommend "Gimp" instead? Haven't used it in years but it's a freeware classic that rivals Photoshop.

It's kind of like the Reaper of the graphics world.

Also... I would be VERY wary of CNET downloads these days. They used to be awesome but they got took over a few years back and now their downloads are generally filled with weird bloatware (whose manufacturers pay to have their crap included).

Just make SURE when downloading anything from CNET that as you install you pay CLOSE attention to what's being installed. There is generally opt outs for that crap but they can be sneaky/confusing.

CNET is still pretty good for tech articles and reviews for the layperson though.

When downloading these days I generally try to hunt down the software producer's own servers/mirrors/etc. 90% of the time they'll have their own donload on their own server relatively free of the sneaky gunkware.

tl;dr...

Use Gimp instead.

edit: GIMP is to Photoshop what Reaper is to ProTools

It seems like www.getpaint.net is a safe website. What sort of virus warning are you getting?
