Hello folks,

I just upgraded to SONAR Pro from Sonar 8.5 but I am having trouble getting my VSTs to work. I did the VST scan so they populate the menus but when I open many of them I get the following message on my screen:

Can't Load SE plugin. The specified module can't be found, File c:\program files (x86)\cakewalk\vstplugins\product name\converters.sem

I press OK and it pops up another error message and just continues like that in an error loop until I use task manager to shut down Sonar Pro.

I replaced the plugin name above with "product name" in this example because this error seems to apply to most of my plugins.

I am able to get KORG M1 and Absynth5 plugins to open and run but most of the rest have these errors.

I installed both SONAR Pro 64 bit and 32 bit to see if it would work in one or the other but I get the same errors in both.

I also noticed that the soft synths like Strings S1 and other plugins that ship with Sonar Pro don't appear in the 32 bit version menus like they do in the 64 bit version. Are those 64 bit only?

Any help would be appreciated I'd love to get started learning to use the new version as I'm upgrading from Sonar 8.5 (which BTW all my plugins work in).

It may be necessary to run SONAR as administrator for SynthEdit plug-ins, just like older 32bit only plug-ins which have not been updated in some time or lack a 64bit version.

For Studio Instruments, make sure to run the installer 2x just like you did for SONAR, once for 64bit and again for 32bit.

Thank you for your reply.

How do I run individual plug ins (or Sonar) as administrator? I added my serial number to one of my plug ins so I could get the full features, it accepted them and then it said something about run as administrator (but didn't say how) and then went back to the demo version.

Also, most of these plugins are 32 bit and don't have a 64 bit version. Yet they don't work in either version of Sonar Pro. They do work perfectly in my 32 bit version of Sonar 8.5.

To run SONAR as administrator for a session,
right-click on the program to show the context menu and
select the "Run as administrator "option.

To always run SONAR as administrator,
right-click on the program to show the context menu and
select Properties then
check the "Run this program as an administrator" option in the Compatibility tab of the Properties dialog.

WOW that's amazing - it all works in the 64 bit module when run as administrator! Can't thank you enough for that tip I was loosing my damn mind.

Now it's time to twiddle some knobs!
