This was reported like 5 years ago, I think. It's been this way for a really long time. It's such an easy work around, I never think of it. I can see it could really confuse someone who didn't know, but I know so it doesn't confuse me.
This is also part of my standard workflow. I always have really big projects in which all the songs were recorded. I'm always copying 1 song at a time from the big projects to little projects so I can work on them independently. I usually twiddle gain nobs as soon as I get home after the gig to hear how all the tracks came out.
