Less than an hour ago I decided to activate Melodyne on my lap top ...after downloading it I go to authorize my copy ..
My second activation of two .
After jumping through all the online hoops I open SONAR and I have lost 6 months of my work on this computer......
all my SONAR projects are gone ... there is not even one SONAR project on my computer any more

My Cakewalk project folder is empty ?????????

thank you it has been a real joy

Unbelievable. Actually so unbelievable it reminds me of my dates with Generative Variant Katzy.
It happened on a friends PC, luckily. The malware cut all connections to all files, reporting all files are empty.
I could rescue all data with a Knoppix-boot disc (Linux based).
It's hard to imagine a download/installation/registration failure that would actually delete files, especially ones that are not objects of the actual task!!

I really hope there's a solution to this.

I am so glad I do a nightly backup. It has seriously saved my butt on so many occasions.

I can't see how it is possible for this to happen from a simple Melodyne activation so take a deep breath and try to take a logical approach to finding your projects

Perhaps the file paths have been reset?

Were your projects stored on a different drive? - Sonar is looking on your C drive currently

Are you able to do a Windows search for ".cwp" files on your whole computer

I hope it is just a file path issue and the projects are still there somewhere...

I'm not really sure what some of what you are saying means ....
I do not run cracks and all my software is legit ...everything period ....
Hope that is not what your saying ..I may just be sensitive right now

Just got done checking every other DAW on this machine and all is well over on that end ...

This is very odd that this has happened ...the only thing I can think off is maybe Melodyne cleared my stuff out because I did have a lot of edits from a previous version ..the one that came w X3 ....
even then I only used it in player mode ...

Yes I agree , I hope there is a solution ..thanks for trying ...

Admittedly I have been lax about backing up to an external HD ...
The one I have been using has gotten full and I had every intention of picking up another one ....
sheeeshhh ...it was on my short list ....oh well ...live and learn ...

Hi Ken

I know what it is like to lose a lot of stuff on the computer.
I had my whole mp3 and Flac music collection of music from prog rock up until today suddenly disappear after pressing a wrong button somewhere and my go back feature was switched off.
If the worse comes to the worse  there is a program called recover my files  but it is not cheap.
It would cost about £50 or £60 /or $120 to buy .
Better still If someone can help you out who has the knowledge.
I paid for it as It was a lifetime of music and well worth the layout "All my memories".
Recover my files got the lot back for me,But It took a whole night and part of the next day to get back as It Is slow.also it freezes sometimes and you have to start again. That was probably something to do with my old slow computer.
That was my experience ,but you may have a great friend who can help you out If your work Is valuable to you.
Good luck mate

all the best
John

Ps Always without fail back up to a separate hard drive and stick that away In your bottom drawer.
Lucky for me, I cannot sing.

Check the paths where Sonar is expecting to find your projects in the Command Centre

I too find it extremely unlikely that a third party program would even be able to delete all of your project files along with all the audio

This must be a paths issue

What does Windows Explorer say? Are your projects still in there?

It is possible ...it happened to me ...I appreciate your help
IMHO Melodyne 's activation is somewhat far from being simple ...it's a little bit of a pain ....
big reason why I didn't bother on this computer ....

I have tried to find my projects ,  they are gone ...there is no path , there is nothing ....
my last posted pic shows  my Cakewalk Project folder ...
something must be up because the size on disk is different than what the folder property lists ...

Paths reset ? I may go and check what SONAR has listed in preferences ..maybe that changed ..

Let me edit this now ....you sir have been of great help to me thank you ...

I did a search for "cwp " files and  nothing showed up except for one project I had placed in my user name documents folder ....
as I was writing this post I kept getting the vibe you may be on to something with the reset angle ...
I opened up Splat and did a check on what my folder options were ...
All my projects have gotten moved over to the apps roaming folder ....
I certainly did not put them there nor did I change my preferences in SONAR ....
Whew ...what a scare  this has been ...hate to say it but I got all  the new gray hairs to show it ....

thank you so much ,

Kenny

You could try using a file undelete utility (e.g. Recuva, which is free).  Try and avoid writing anything to the disk in the meantime - don't even install Recuva on the machine if you can avoid it, download the portable version on another PC and put it on a pen drive.

Note: this all assumes that the files have actually been deleted and not just moved somewhere. Does it look like this is the case from the amount of free disk space?

Edit: Glad to see you got your stuff back while I was typing that!  I'll leave the post here in case it is of any use to anyone else in future.
