tareeq, i will try... you are asking for a one off solution and actually it will always depend on the recording, type song, tempo, etc....
Eq, put an equlizer on your dholak track....try to remove some bass ( 80 - 120 Hz )and listen if your dholak gets a bit sharper, now for the sake of the example route the dholak to a parralel buss. put on a eq or maybe even a exciter.... look for the frequency you want around 1000 Hz and up the higher you the snapier (but also thinner) the sound gets.
u can put al sorts of processors on the dholak buss, I would also just slightly compress on track and slam the buss track, that way you get the dholak sound but still preserve transients.... hope this helps
