Hi Guys

Just built a new high end PC, using the built in Creative Soundblaster Recon 3Di sound. I installed Sonar and the problem is that a track that I am trying to record an instrument on is recording the other track(s) that are playing. My driver choices are all labeled "Malcom" .

I can't seem to attach a screen cap?

thx

The soundcard is echoing output to input internally. Change the input in the soundcard's mixer app from 'What U Hear' or ' Stereo mix' to Mic/Line In.

Thanks, Guys

I can't find where to change that. How do I post a screen capture so I can show you what I have?

The Recording panel, where you can disable What You Hear (what SoundBlaster calls Stereo Mix)  is in
Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel, Recording section.

If you are using Windows 10, RIGHT click on the start button (lower left) and you can access the Control Panel.

I haven't found a way to post screenshots directly on this forum.  What you would need to do is post the screenshot on some host server and then provide a link to the screenshot.

Jack, my fellow Franklin Bro :)

OK, I changed recording property from "what you hear" to "line in"?

Still the same. In the SB mixer, I only have line in listed now in mixer/recording.

Win 7 Pro 64, BTW.

Should I install my old M-Audio Audiophile 2496 pci sound card?

thx

Yes!

And disable the Soundblaster!

The only issue is whether the old PCI 2496 is compatible with the new motherboard (and I assume Win 10).

Best option is a (Win 10 compatible) USB connected recording interface device.  Some inexpensive two channel ones that won't break the bank.

I don't think soundblaster and high-end are compatible terms
