Will the limit of 2 include the Mac version should I decide to by one and install it?

I don't think cakewalk minds multiple installs, as long as you are not "selling" your serial #.  I have 2 computers I keep updated with the latest SONAR, and have always had an older computer or two w/ other versions of SONAR on them (we have 3 kids and I would turn the systems over to them after a year or two).  They usually aren't hooked up to the internet, but I've never received a warning to de-install them, even if they were the current version.  As long as you don't use more than 1 computer at a time and don't install and reg your serial a dozen times in a week you should be fine.

I have Splat & X3 installed on 3 machines, but due to a lack of limbs only use one at a time.

Same here. 3 installs. one studio, one live rack. one for backup in case either breaks. can only use one at a time as my brain is not properly multi-threaded ...

I read a post from Cakewalk saying, "with the new system we can keep an eye on your installs".    So they probably let you get away with a few, but if the number starts to climb suddenly they might step in.
I've had to rebuild a few times and never had a problem with Sonar. It's Melodyne and ADrums you have to sort out. Melodyne takes a E mail notice, AD is simple just change the computer.
I have the latest version of Platinum on my main DAW and my Laptop.
My main DAW also has 8.5 , X3e Studio and Professional ( 1 year old )
I have X1 LE on an old Laptop and my Office computer which I only use to test downloaded  midi files.
My old DAW ( hasn't been turned on for a year) has 8.5 and X3 Studio.

Yes, don't both of these limit you to 2 installs?

Which is a pain because I run Sonar on 3 systems - one is my DAW, the second is on my desktop downstairs which I use for sketching out ideas, and also on my laptop which I use for testing, troubleshooting & posting on here.
So whenever it's Melodyne or AD I have to use the desktop (DAW not connected to internet) which is in another room which is usually either too hot or too cold

Yes they only allow 2 installs.
I've yet to get Melodyne to work,, it always say's I need to increase my buffers to 1,200000??   so I gave up trying, haven't really needed it anyways,, someday when I have a few hours to waste ( never) I'll try to get it working.

And Because I first bought Professional which came with  AD  It would seem I have 2 sets of registrations.
I have the one from Professional and the one from Platinum so that's 4 possible installs as far as I can tell.
I'm only using 2. But I did end up with 3 Add packs out of the deal.. So it pay's to upgrade from a lower version of Sonar. They let you keep the old version 100% on it's own. Only thing is my version of Professional is now a year out of date... But it certainly works just fine, I end up running it by accident all the time as it somehow is the default for opening Sonar by double clicking a CWP icon. I'll happily work away for hours and not even notice.
There's some point I'll go to do something,, I forget what, and I'll think something is broken with Plat and I go DUH! this is Pro. I guess I can safely remove it as it's serving no real purpose.
Windows 10 has totally broken the setting of default programs.
