Hey guys, i originally posted this on toms hardware but i was recommended to come here :)

sorry to be a pain but im curious to know if upgrading from the scarlett solo to a steinberg ur22 would result in better quality?

i dont really know much about audio but i currently have a bphs1 xlr headset and a rode procaster, and im thinking of upgrading to the steinberg as the solo drivers aren't that great but also the steinberg has 2 inputs which would be handy, but would i lose, gain or have the same quality as before?. Also i like how the steinberg has more gain range but that's all i know lol. iv tried to do the research myself but tbh im crap at this stuff

EDIT: aww it wont let me post links :(

Will you hear a difference?  Probably not.  But just glancing over their specs, I feel like the UR22 is the better unit overall.  Things like the UR22's balanced outs and onboard midi vs the Solo's RCA outs and no midi stand out...

Also, note that there are two versions of the UR22: The original and the Mk II.  The original is still being sold discounted mostly on Ebay, while the Mk II is the current version sold by retailers.  The Mk II has slightly better specs (6dB better Dynamic range) and iPad connectivity.

In general, I've found the Steinberg drivers to be rock-solid (though I'm still on Win 8.1, so YMMV).

yeh windows 10 kinda messed everything up didnt it :P the solo drivers suck! if i use the ones im meant to use for windows 10 my mic is only in one ear and its so so quiet, if i use the beta drivers then its better but very unstable, hmmm the ur22 does look good doesnt it! i wonder if the mic audio would be better for me. im using an audio technica bphs1 xlr headset, hoping the noise would be better :D
