Are you installing this as an update or a fresh install? When running an update to the app the install location cannot be changed. This field is only available on a clean install of the app. If you would like to change your install location you will need to uninstall the app from the current location and then install again to a different location.

We make not a fresh install. We upgrade. It is correct you should not have to Change the app-Directory.
Problem is:
This (and previous) versions substitutes the current install location with c:\program files\... instead of using the already existing current install location we had before.
This Version removes the possibility to correct this behaviour with removing the Option to determine the app install Directory.

This release 22.7.0.4 has REMOVED  (intended or not) the Advanced install option to set basic Program install path (not talking about plug-ins path that is still changeable/selectable)

I do not use CCC (all installs are manual),  so this is not a "setting paths" in CCC correctly issue and I always run everything as Admin (and OMG with with UAC off)

This is VERY EASY to verify so thanks ahead of time for verifying and reporting to m, and all members here, that I'm smoking dope (aka wrong) or right

NO this is an UPDATE (I'll say it again - update)

it's an update to my EXISTING install which now currently sits at version 22.6.0.26, and the month before that it was v22.5.0.45C, and the month before that 22.5.0.43, and so on.)

So 22.7.0.4 WOULD have been about the 17th or so update, by me, since SPLAT came out ~18 months ago, and this is the FIRST one of those SPLAT updates that does NOT ask, or allow, for where to install the base program.

Are you implying CW tech support cannot re-create this?   Or is that just a rhetorical., like "did you remember to turn on the PC?"

Like I said, elsewhere,  takes what about 1-2 minutes to physically verify that that option, where to install, is gone.

Thanks

Lance - Yes, I can confirm Bluesplayer's comment - the problem is for an UPDATE.  I would appreciate if you can test installing 22.07 over, well basically any previous version of SPLAT already installed to a non-default location, using the Advanced Option and looking at what the dialog is telling you through the process; rather than assume we don't know what we are looking at.

Reading between the lines, as to when the select path option is available or not, as a workaround I have uninstalled Sonar Platinum (just using Control Panel -> Programs & Features) then reinstalled.  (not the whole Clean Install procedure.) This did give me the option to choose D: and appears to have worked ok.  I'm a little nervous if this is going to occur every time we need to update, that things might get broken or settings lost.  I'm now on 22.07.

I still think there is a bug in the update routine of the installer, this clearly should not be the default behaviour of updating in place; and at the very least the install utility could be rolled back.

I noticed that auto crossfade with slip editing doesn't work across multiple tracks with this new update.  For example, I record multi tracked drums (which are grouped).  I cut out a section and move it somewhere, and then do a slip edit (with all of the clips selected) to fill the gap and create an auto crossfade across all of the tracks and it will only auto crossfade across the one I am doing the slip edit with.  It will animate the crossfades across the rest of the tracks but as soon as I unclick, the crossfade only exists on the track used to do the edit.  This makes this new update unusable for me and I'm sure a number of other users.

Btw, I would have reported this problem through the problem reporter but,

1. I never hear back from anyone or see any results from doing that
2. I can't even find the problem reporter link on the site anymore

Thanks in advance.

I manually run the installer too. I can also confirm that although my previous install was on F:, the update installed itself on C:

Is there any particular reason that the questions regarding SPlat update file drive choice have not been answered by Cakewalk reps? This issue constitutes a fundamental change in how Sonar is updated on our computers. An answer would be nice.

While they need time to verify, and reality check - they have other issues/items to troubleshoot, work-on, and verify.  However, this one is probably the easiest one CW tech's could ever hope to to get to "verify" and report back - they could have the office "gofer," any administrative assistant, or sales staff member check it out to verify and report back:

1) "yep it's an repeatable/verified issue" or
2) "nope, you folks out there are all smoking non-tobacco products"

To be truly fair, please note I did not  say get back to use with a correction, change, or SW fix: THAT in reality DOES TAKE TIME.

But at this point, assuming CW agrees it is truly their "issue,"  I suspect CW now will not address until end of Aug release so Jul release "goodies" (any unique pieces and parts) may just lost to us (as a Lifetime'er - that would not make me happy).   I doubt each new release "includes" any, let alone all, of the previous releases "stuff."

Any plans to bring some Piano-Roll features (dragging to lengthen/shorten notes, or scrolling with mouse wheel to adjust velocity) into the Staff View?

Hey guys,

I spent some time looking into this installer issue. Turns out it's two separate problems:

1) As of this release (2016.07), we are not displaying the install directory page in our installer if you already have SONAR installed. This happened as a result of our installer tool changing a default behavior in their most recent update. We were able to address this quickly and it will be rectified in 2016.08.

2) We are not adopting the previous install location in the installer. If you install to a custom location we should be recalling that location for subsequent installs of the same product or updates. Today, it appears we always pre-populate the path with the default recommendation. Apparently this has been happening since X3. I have a plan to resolve this as well, but it won't happen for 2016.08, since it requires a bit of work and we're already really close to releasing. So please expect this change in 2016.09.

Thanks for the reports and for your patience as we take care of the issues.

LP MB VST3 > I loaded 3 into a big project > side chained to 1 of them and platinum istantly has some type of latency/issue ( if I hit play button it takes 2-5 sec to start or if I hit keyboard in prv it takes 2 sec to play the note , this is affecting everything inside platinum . If I turn all 3 LPMB off in console view then platinum instantly RUNS Responsive again the way it should almost instantaneous playback ,midi ,right clicking etc etc .

I have tried to re install and find a LPMB VST 2 version , does anyone know if there is one ?
