Gave in and did the lifetime updates. Anyways, been testing out Sonar Platinum and on several different occasions slip editing during playback the audio engine makes a big "Tck" sound and the master meter freezes maxed out 9 db over. After that you try to hit play and it makes the "Tck" sound. Latest version and the early release as well. Reseting the midi and audio doesn't help nor does stopping and starting the audio engine. Have to close the project and re-open. Luckily I'm testing out on my personal music and not my clients! 😄Anyone else experience such a thing? --Thanks all

Hi. Which Audio Interface do you have, and which driver mode do you use? Do you have share drivers with other programs checked under Preferences (P), Audio, Playback and Recording? Which latency settings do you use? Did you not have this issue before upgrading?

IMO slip edits should be done in solitude and in stop mode. At least until CW announces that they have a gapless engine (if they ever do).

Agreed. Slip editing is an editing function, not a playback function. However that said, I can slip-edit during playback and even stretch-edit during playback without problems, so all of Zargg71's questions are relevant.

That would be kinda like replacing your brakes while the car is moving.... only in this case your car won't stop.

Slip-Edit or Slip-Stretch? If it's stretching, you might try disabling the 64-bit double precision engine. I've seen problems with pops, pegged meters and audio engine dropouts when playing stretched audio with the DP engine enabled in some situations - even when the stretch is done with playback stopped.

And from a practical viewpoint - how can you accurately judge your "slip" when the transport is running?

+1. I've never had the courage to try any editing during playback. Actually it never ever popped in my mind, until I read here on the forum that some are doing so. There's too many possibilities of messing things up big time - not to mention doing it in front of a client (which I don't have, luckily)!!

which would be fine with me - I use my car for driving more than stopping ;-)
 
and I do slip edits with playback running. sometimes asking too much. but no risk no gain
 
BTW, pretty soon you won't be able to stop your car anyway. google will take that decision of your back.
