Hi all-

Getting back into using Sonar after jumping ship when X1 dropped. It seems Platinum addresses the issues that I didn't like in X1, and I'm enjoying the change/ stability from having spent too much time with Pro tools lately.

My question: is it possible to use a graphics tablet and not have controls jump like mad? This was an issue in 8, 8.5, and in Platinum.

It's not on every screen widget that it happens: only Sonar's continuous mixer controls (volumes, pans, trims etc) and newer plugins have this issue. Older plugs like the sonitus suite, lexicon reverbs, even the LP64 series don't have the issue, nor do UAD plugins.

I've seen this issue on 3 or 4 systems, with three different graphics tablets (2 monoprice, one wacom), so I suspect it's inherent to Sonar. Other hosts don't have this issue. I'm hoping there's just a setting I'm missing. Due to carpal tunnel issues, this is right on the cusp of being a deal breaker; I'm hoping it can be rectified.

I did see the bulletin about keeping your screen resolution to 100% as this can cause some control jumpiness when set to magnified settings. This doesn't appear to be the issue.

Thanks,

Ron

Did your digitizer tablet work better in Pro Tools?

Yes. Works perfectly in PT on the same machine. Also works fine in Reaper and Adobe Audition, as well as in any older cake-provided plugins or non-cake plugins in Sonar. It's just the newer plugs and mixer window widgets in Sonar that jump like mad.

Does your digitizer use a control surface driver in Sonar or is it just a general mouse substitute that works windows wide. And if the latter, how are other apps?

It's just a general mouse substitute, no special control surface plugin. Works without issue in any other application, either general stuff like the Windows OS, Chrome, or Open Office, and with audio specific programs: in addition to the others mentioned, it works well with the RME totalmix mixer and with the mixer for the Maudio ProFire 2626.

To reiterate, I've seen this behavior both with these monoprice graphics tablets, and with a wacom tablet.

I use an addesso tablet for drawing target notes in antares auto tune graphical mode, also for drawing note lines like slow scoops etc. tried it in sonar and the widgets acted crazy so i don't use it for that anymore. It's not you man! Haven't tried since win 10. My waves dials were squirly with even a mouse with win 7, but win 10 fixed that. I'll check my widgets when i get home.
