  • Anyone else having problems with the Track Manager? Tracks not hiding/sync state issues? (p.2)

FWIW I recently had a project in which I had hidden a whole bunch of scratch tracks, old synth tracks, MIDI tracks and the like hidden, and I opened it up and most of those tracks had been unhidden. This is definitely an area of the program which needs work. It's hard to submit a bug report though because I cannot reproduce the issue with a set of steps.

I've also just discovered that a project of mine has a synth track which is not hidden in the track manager, which shows in the track pane but which does not show in the console. Upon further investigation it seems that the options in the "Strips" menu of the console is counting this Simple Instrument Track as a MIDI track, and since I have MIDI tracks unchecked in this menu it's disappeared from the console. This is clearly a bug as SIT's are supposed to be shown/hidden with the "Instruments" option in the Strips menu, not "MIDI."

I was working on a project last night and just like before, there were many tracks visible in a given screenset that I KNOW I'd hidden previously.

We'll see tonight - yesterday I set up 5 specific screensets for this one project which were working perfectly whilst the project was open.

And I still get really funky behaviour clicking the +/- buttons on the folders in TV. most of the time I have to click the button 2 or 3 times to get it to show (or hide) the folder contents.

I've noticed the same thing but put it down to PEBKAC and was busy so I moved on without investigating further.

I *think* I fixed this for 08, no? If anyone's checking early access then please let me know.

I noticed that this had been addressed in the release notes.

Will check out later.

Nice. Once again proving my point these types of minor annoyances ARE being slowly chipped away amongst the bigger changes.

Hopefully someone is looking into Clip Selections Groups not moving together nor obeying Snap settings when Slip Stretching groups of audio clips.

And the weird, seemingly random, insertion of Offset markers when slip stretching (which then sends clips moving out of position in unwanted ways).

That's probably a much bigger problem to solve but it would be REALLY nice if all that worked properly so I don't have to perform thos tasks in another program.

Thanks for the heads up and the fix.

hmm... just noticed this in the Early Access announcement thread.

"Changing the Stretch of a clip is now done via [Ctrl]+[Shift]"

This might actually be a fix to the Selection Group problem (where stretching ignores the group). I was getting the impression that the previous binding for stretching was the same as when you want to temproarily exclude a clip from a group when performing an action and thus causing both the stratch to happen but excluding it from the group. This might pin down what the user ACTUALLY wants (stretching of ALL the grouped clips).

If so that would be awesome. Also might keep that weird Offset thing from happening too but I don't know the logic behind that one.

Looks like a nice set of improvements even though I'm going to have to completely rework my understanding of Comping/Lanes. It'll be worth it though if it delivers.

I will definitely try this early release out to see if it has fixed some of the track manager issues I was seeing.
