  • Reauthorize AD2 after Win 10 Anniversary Update

I updated my Win 10 this morning to the Anniversary update (V1607, OS Build 14393.10).
FYI That required reauthorizing AD2.

FWIW, everything went OK on the update, nothing was lost or messed up, other than the AD2 requirement.

Thanks Jack.

I haven't done this Anniversary update yet, so good to know about AD2. IIRC, when I upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 (last year), AD2 was the only plugin I had to reauthorize.

Hope this update has more good than bad (so far, Win 10 has been fantastic for me).

I just upgraded to Windows 10 late last week. Doesn't Windows 10 automatically update? Or is this Anniversary edition something I have to manually update? Thanks!

If you have Win 10 Pro or Enterprise, you can manually disable the automatic updates using the Group Policy editor(the default setting (I believe) is set to Automatic).

If you have Win 10 Home, you're out of luck......it'll automatically update whether you want it or not.

Yep, I'm on home. Hopefully it never decides to update when I'm in the middle of a session. Kind of surprised I haven't heard more griping about that, but it hasn't happened for me yet, so maybe it hasn't happened for others either.

I thought (I may be wrong) it downloaded the files in the background and then installed the update when you close down and restart so it should not happen in the middle of anything, unless you exceed a time limit which may happen if you keep windows running all the time.

That is my understanding as well. I occasionally see a notice about a restart being scheduled but it is well out into the future. I also check for updates like I did today for this update. Ran it and restarted the system to force immediate application of the update. So far the only issue is XLN sensing the OS change.

If you have Home you can tell Win10 you have a "metered connection". At least that lets you determine WHEN the update occurs.

I've found some issues since updating to Win10Anniv... the biggest so far is that the XLN Installer won't run.  I get an error message when the prog gets to loading one of the AD Packs, then goes no further.  Tried downloading/uninstalling/running their installer, with same result.  Fortunately, the products still work in Sonar.  XLN tech spt has not helped in 4 days.
And if you didn't see my other post on this, all of my Waves plugs were unuseable... FORTUNATELY, the Waves tech  phone suppt took control of my computer and uninst/reinst all my Waves stuff and had me back up in 15 mins.
I think I had to reauthorize Strum, reinstall Rapture Pro, and other items as well as SPLAT has had issues.  I haven't gone thru most plugs yet... not anxious to go thru it all.
Now I don't know if I need to reinstall all Sonar software or what... standing by.

Updated and re-authorised AD paks, but it hosed my PCR 800 and SD20 drivers.

Re-installed them as per the this thread :

All is well !
