There are several graphics that no longer apply to the latest version. Cakewalk seldom discards old unused graphics within the res.dll files when adding new ones, so they're carried over into the new res.dll. When people see them in the editor they may be confused as to what they are. Maybe Cake will eventually weed them out.

The theme editor stores changes relative to the Mercury theme.

Sadly, you don't get the coloured console strips like you do in Mercury though :(

Note that if you had a project you did in Mercury with colored console strips, they'll still be there if you call up the Mercury factory preset. Other than that, though, console strips can't be colorized...at least not yet.

I must say, I remain disappointed by this omission. It's such a useful feature. And it's why I'm still using the mercury theme.

For my own use, I don't particularly want to do a radical re-design of the theme. I just want to tweak a few things in Mercury. But by the sound of it, doing that will break the coloured strips feature.

It's a weird omission, given how recent and trumpeted a featuring track strip colouring was.

The current version of Melodyne is 4.0.4.004. The current version is available in your Celemony account.

Hi scook ,

It's a good thing you helped me out . It turns out I was still on the version of Melodyne that came w X3 ..lol

Just took care of all of that by using the info you provided .
Now my Cakewalk SPLat version of Melodyne has been upgraded and registered   ....

Whew  , after getting through with all of that w Melodyne , I think I'm gonna play it safe and give it a little time before I take on the Theme Editor ..

When it comes to computers and jumping through all the hoops that are involved , I'm not exactly an Olympic Athlete  ...

thank you ...

sorry about the OT side topics  folks ...

all the best ,

Kenny

Please note that the Theme Editor is currently being made available so those that wish to participate in the Early Access program can install it at this time if they wish.  See the following link to learn more about this month's Early Access release:  http://forum.cakewalk.com/The-Early-Access-Program-is-Now-Live-for-the-Upcoming-Release-of-SONAR-201607-m3450399.aspx

I'm not enrolled in the Early Access but I opened Command Center, it had 'an update was available' so I selected it. The new Command Center was updated / installed along with the Editor exe on my desktop.
I didn't rollback anything. Is this just a hiccup or a new way early access updates get installed?

I had Theme Editor DL'ed via Command Center normally, but had to early adopt the 7-2016 update to apply my theme (a pretty ugly first attempt I did last night-early this morning; as in 4:00 AM this morning. Ugg). I'm guessing that's the point of this early adopt. It seemed to work well.

I'm going to carve back into my theme and try to get things "tighter". I have to read to see how to import items from Mercury into a mostly Tungsten theme (my ideal theme would have the background of Tungsten with the buttons, lights, etc. of Mercury. Maybe I'd make the buttons this color: BLUE, rather than the Robin's Egg blue, but essentially most of Mercury is very cool except the overall bright background. Tungsten is perfect that way.

Thanks for doing this, guys!

I saw the "Sonar X4" panel there. I was bit confused, but thought maybe it was left in as a kind of "tip-of-the-hat" to previous versions.

Read the last four words of my response

Wanting to colorize tracks is not a "corner case" from a vocal minority - lots of people want to colorize their tracks, and while I don't have any particular inside info, those kind of numbers do tend to get Cakewalk's attention.

So far, so good!   I'm using the Mercury theme, and wanted an enabled effect to be more obvious in the FX rack. Using the Theme Editor and an image editor, I was able to lightly outline the effect's button in green to indicate it's enabled.

A couple of tips:
This required installing the Theme Editor and 7.2016 Platinum early Access build.
If the Theme Editor crashes on saving, check to make sure the theme being saved isn't currently active in Sonar.  I think this is mentioned in the documentation or in a post.

Next, I want to try Craig's Punch-in button mod.  Like others, I've inadvertently left punch-in enabled when I wanted to record an entire take. That can be frustrating!

Modifying just a few theme elements can take time.  It makes one appreciate the effort by the developers to create a whole new theme.

I've got a Tungsten-Mercury hybrid happening as we speak; I might have it done tonight. I'm importing the buttons and other Robin's Egg blue elements (very slightly tweaked for contrast) into Tungsten dark grey panels. So far, it looks very nice, much better than my first attempt. Is there anywhere to share these yet?

I might call it "Mercsten" (or Murkston?"). If you have a suggestion for a name, let 'er wail.

Break's over, I've got to get back to it. This is very time consuming, however.
