Yep, like the door to the arc!

Kenny ,
You have been a very bad boy ......
I thought I had made it perfectly clear to you that if you wanted your seat on the Arc .
You needed to purchase your SONAR Life Time Upgrade within the allotted sales offer timeline deadline  ....
What am I gonna do with you ?

.....Oh my (insert capital  L )  Please don't smite me ....I'm just a little guy around here

The Historic R 8 Gibson Les Paul I'm playing is real .

"SO What" on the fact that my amps are made of cardboard and I'm not even plugged in

Not that I've read ...re read, etc... but when the lifetime updates where first offered, some where given a discount of I believe to be as low as $99.
In the future after August, lifetime updates will be available for $199 to anyone, which I'm sure I read back when.
So....some can save $100 now.  That's the deal.  I will jump in at the end of August as there was no need to pay when the offer first came out....in "effect" spreading the payments out.  ...not that it really matters anyway.

There was a lot of confusion surrounding the Lifetime Membership offer when it was first made  ...
Most folks can safely say this place was nut's for a long while ..

Others here can explain it a lot better than I can , yet in a nutshell my summary of the fine print goes along these lines ...

Cakewalk users that made the transition from X3 to SPlat early on and had payed up on another years membership after that (this year ) were offered a real Sweet deal ...
They could get the Lifetime membership offer for the lower of the 2 prices you mentioned ...99 dollars ...

In my case I had a time gap ....I had stayed with X3 for a better part of the time after  SPlat was released ...
In December of this year I had upgraded to Splat as owned for 12 months ...
Since I waited on my upgrade to SPlat , that put me into the category of the higher priced Lifetime upgrade offer of $ 199  ...
I had missed an upgrade cycle ...

I believe you misunderstood.  Yes, some get a "discount" related to previous purchases.  However, any rate or even a future offering of the lifetime updates is pure speculation.

I'd personally imagine it will come around at some point, but no indication has been given they have plans to offer it again with any certainty.  I've read a lot of posts.

August 31 is the deadline to guarantee lifetime updates with a one time fee.

This tread is relevant for those still sitting on the fence concerning  the SPlat all in Lifetime upgrade .
At the very least since the clock is ticking , it may serve as a wake up reminder .

This question has become the pebble in my shoe that just wont go away no matter how many times I stop , take the shoe off , and toss the pebble . The Pebble  just keeps reappearing in my shoe and it keeps causing me a foot blister

When Cakewalk announced that deal I had a feeling that I may be S .O. L. on being able to pull the trigger during the deals time window ...
I have been saving up to meet an additional financial deadline that starts Sep 1st and comes to a close in Oct ....
My new drivers license , 2 cars registrations , Smog inspections w possible repairs ,  6 months up front on my Auto and Apt insurance , new yearly dog tags for the pooch , my license to pack , and a freaking partridge in a pear tree the last one was for a dramatic relief
This outlay totals out  close to 12 to 13 hundred minimum  above and outside of my normal monthly expenses...

Sorry Cakewalk , as much as I would like to just buy my upgrade right now I can't , I have no wiggle room on the time line concerning the above mentioned responsibility's...
I am being forced into having to chose to take a calculated risk and play the hand I have been dealt ...
If you happen to decide you want to throw me a bone and give me the opportunity to spread out the 199 over a couple of months starting from anytime from right now I'm in ...if that is not possible
I'm gonna be OK w no hard feelings since that's the hand I was dealt ....

all the best ,

Kenny

I can relate.  $1100+ for emission work.  At the same time it may be a blessing to learn to be content and go for having no debt. Sonar is not my main DAW but if possible I would fork over $199.

Why is this even a question?

It's linked on the main Cakewalk.com page, and says, "Act now! Lifetime Updates are available for purchase only until August 31st, 2016"

Until it says otherwise, there's your answer.

EDIT: On reflection, perhaps OP is actually asking whether this offer will ever be made again in the future, after the cut-off date. A reasonable question, perhaps. The answer is most probably "no-one, not even Cakewalk, can provide an answer at this time."

 You figured it out.

I certainly hope so, at least for a good long while. Otherwise, it really lowers Cakewalk Marketing's credibility when they say "limited time offer".

Right since when does a consumer care about market credibility if it benefits the consumer.

Me too. I'll be annoyed if I outlayed money at this difficult time to find out the offer re appeared every 6 months.

Companies like sample modelling don't ever shift their prices, stating it feels unfair to those who pay te full price just before a cut. I respect them for that, I just wish their prices were a little more managable. Yet XLN stuff I know I can wait for December and pick up some packs at half price. All this does is leaves me without stuff at time I fancy it, and XLN without the money they could have made. Again if they adjusted the balance a littkle they probably wouldn't need to go on sale.

Sounds like a response based on selfishness. Someone will get the same thing. How does that effect you? This makes no sense unless it's all about me.
