hi!

I am on the fence about buying the Sonar 4 life upgrade to my x3 pro...

One thing that worries me is this:
i am an amateur, basement type of guy getting this just to have fun recording my guitar stuff (this: https://soundcloud.com/vondano) How does cakewalk go about DRM (digital right management)

Do i only get 1 install on my pc? is it DRM free (install anywhere, like you want?) how does it work??

Not that i plan on distributing it, I just tend to format my pc more often than i would like (random crash, dead HDD, etc...), so my program tends to suddenly disappear...

I currently own x3 pro by Steam, so i this is perfect for me since if i format my pc, i dont have do "deauthorize" it,

not sure if my concern are clear, english is my 2nd language...

i just wanna make sure that if i shell out 325$ (my cost to upgrade from x3 pro) that i can use the software all the time with no worries about my pc crashing and loosing my DRM...

i would also like to use it maybe on my laptop.., (i have a good gaming laptop i could use to record stuff in a practice room)

any help or input will be appreciated!

thanx a lot!

Hi. You are allowed to install on more than one pc. I have it installed on both my laptop and studio pc.
You are not allowed to use more than one (pc) at the time, though. Hope it helps.
All the best.

so i can install it multiple times on multiples pc

but only use 1 instance at a time

right?

if this is it, this is perfect for me then!

can someone confirm i am understanding this correctly before my wifes kills me for getting a 325$ thing she cant use?

Yes, exactly.

One of the reasons I was attracted to Cakewalk SONAR was because it's so easy to recover from a hard disk crash or computer failure. It's even easier now because the files needed to reconstruct SONAR are available from your user account online. However I still keep a backup of the installation files on a USB stick in case I ever have to reinstall SONAR and the internet is down.

As good as X3 was, I think you'll be very pleased with Platinum.

thank you all very much,

i will wait a few hours to see if the urge to buy the sonar 4 life passes,

i will try to convince myself to get the cheaper one at a monthly fee...

will report back to see how this concludes.

thank you all for your help.
