Honestly, I belive it is a Slate-specific problem. I have loads of stuff on my iLok2 and only Slate's stuff ever gives me a problem. Usually, it's the "please insert a iLok2 containing..." message. Closing and reopening the project usually fixes it, but it's getting to be where I'm no longer using Slate stuff on new projects.

Dan

Sorry, but it's definitely a PC problem; it has nothing to do with Slate. When I got a message of the type you mention, and inserted the iLok2, WINDOWS immediately failed the USB device; it never got registered as an active, valid USB device. The failure was completely unrelated to whichever app/plugin wanted it for authorization.

So, I repeat again: MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET A REFUND IF YOU CAN'T GET THE ILOK2 TO RUN ON YOUR PC AND YOU AREN'T PERMITTED TO USE COMPUTER AUTHORIZATION...LIKE SLATE DIGITAL.

In my case, only Slate's plugins exhibit the problem. All other plugins that require an iLok2 work perfectly. The iLok2 itself is just fine.

Dan

Robert... you'll love the new ilok system... it is very nice.  I was very frustrated by the old software; it confused my dinky brain... but the new stuff is great... moving the ilok around is totally trouble free.  I have had well over 60 iLok licences running trouble free at times.  Currently running 47 licences... Never had a problem beyond understanding the old software in well over a decade.

Hopefully you ordered a short (couple inches) usb extension cable... so it hangs free and not subject to breakage... That was the only worry I ever had with the hardware, with a dog, cat and me bumbling around the studio at times...
