I just opened cakewalk and tried to open a new project. It's coming up blank. I can open an existing project or recent project but can't start a new one. Recently windows tried to update my computer and things went wonky. It then restored to previous version and I'd like to keep it that way. Any suggestions on what to do so I can start a new project? Should I uninstall/reinstall?

Were you trying to open a particular template?
Did you select the 'Blank' template by mistake?

Doesn't SONAR always suggest opening one of the templates or a blank view?
At least mine does.

The default template in CbB should have two tracks, one audio one MIDI unless you have told it other wise..

If you hit Ctl+N when Cake first boots you'll get the Basic template which should give you 1-Audio & 1-MIDI track.  Are you seeing this when you click on the "New Project" tab (also what you'll get when you click File-New)?  Choosing "Empty Project" will indeed be an empty layout without tracks.  BTW, this screen will vary depending on whether you have added your own templates which are found by default here - C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Project Templates
