  • Theme Editor: Is it required? Does it have benefits beyond color scheme tweaking?

I have always been happy to work with whatever color scheme Sonar has had as standard and I have now even reverted to the old, standard bright one (Mercury? Didn't know it had a name), mostly just because I know it and I'm comfortable with it.

So do I need to install the Theme Editor?

What I mean is, does it have other functions besides just color scheme choices, or does it install extra modules which SPlat  needs/benefits from, any stuff like that?

I'm happy for those who have been longing for the ability to customise their look, but I'm with you on this point jpeterson. The colour of Sonar has never bothered me. I believe the theme editor is just what it says on the box. I don't think you will be missing a thing by not downloading it.

Actually no, Mercury is the best version as it's the only version that allows coloured track and channel strips. I set about editing (more for experimenting with the editor) the Mercury default today, but found after about 6 hours of work the edited version of Mercury looses the coloured track and channel stirps.

I think it's good to have the editable set up, and I missed the sharing of colour schemes  on te forum that we used to have. I think it good, but I don't like it when we gain one function at the loss of another.

In it's current state Theme Editor is useless to me. As Kamikaze says it removes strip colours which are absolutely essential in large projects. Until this is sorted I can't use it. Which is a damn shame. I'm desperate to sort out the terrible UI choice they have made for the new LP EQ and MB plugins. Why they think a white background at the bottom was the way to go is beyond me.

I'm not with you there. I think the Plugs look cool. Seems a weird thing to be desperate to get changed to be honest, with all the other feature requests made.

It's been indicated that they are baking a lighter theme. If it was along the same line as the the mastering plugs I'd be happy IF it allowed colored strips. With a little tweaking the colored strips would take the colors better on a lighter theme.

I wish cake would open up a little on feature requests. I've given up caring about that section, very little has been implemented. Someone posted that a coloured border would be nice and it was well received. I can't see why that would be so difficult to implement. Especially after editing things like borders in theme editor yesterday. Then seeing that under Pref>Cust>Colours that it actually states that coloured stripos is an option to turn on and off, but only works with Mercury :( Why not haver it available to all themes, why no explanation for the removal. They say they listen, but it's selective hearing. I would like them to explain too.

Having the colored strips available to all themes would be great. Having the option to use a border instead would be great, and while we are at it, if you want both, that would be great too. Some schemes may suit that.

I'm back to Mercury too. A little time away, and it just looks perfect. I'm glad the theme editor is there though...It's cool to look at what other people make with it.

I liked Mercury a lot too but often my eyes could NOT discern if something was active or not... colors were too close/subtle... I agree with all that  Kamakazi said...
