when you go to Preferences' Colours page you can only edit older themes (bright, dark, mono, normal), not the newer Tungsten Theme.

Ah, I see. The two different color-editing methods (one of which only works with one of the themes) will definitely confuse users!

Figured it out - I have to go to Preferences --> themes and EDIT the Tungsten theme from there.  Not go to Theme editor directly

Glad you discovered the solution.  I wrote a couple of paragraphs and posted them just after your edit.  I removed my response to reduce clutter.  Let me know if you need more suggestions.  The Theme Editor is new to all.

edit:  RedSkyRoad found a solution.

As Craig said, certain colorizations are not so easy considering the fact that the X series GUI was apparently created without this in mind. So I'm sure it will take time for all your colorization wishes and dreams to come true.

The fact that they are now offering 'themes" and an editor is a giant step. Now that we have them, refinements will follow.

I think you'll find an interesting quote from a baker at the end of this video that pretty much sums it up.
"I think it looks worse, but that's OK"..

He was, of course, only referring to his particular choice of background image which was pulled randomly for demonstration purposes only.

Theme editor is not available to me at this location. Only under utilities. How do I get it to appear at preferences/themes ?

And, What is a "strip" and/or "strips" ?
Thanks

The Theme Editor can be started from the Preferences window. Simply type "p" (or menu Edit > Preferences) and navigate to "Themes" dialog.  Press EDIT and the Theme Editor will open with the active theme.  This assumes you have Platinum 2016.07 and  the Theme Editor installed.

I believe "strips" refers to the channel strips in the console and track views.  The original poster of this thread has a picture showing "channel strips" with various color tints.

That's my point Tom. There is no "Edit" button. And yes, everything is installed that needs to be installed (at least according to command center).

Check the SONAR about screen. It should be SONAR Platinum 2016.07,

Good to hear it's working now. I had installed only the Theme Editor at first and noticed something similar until installing the rest of Sonar.
