File this under 'Doing-too-many-things-at-once-to-know-what-fixed-it', but I changed dual monitor display to just duplicate the main display and rebooted. Maybe the Scan progress box was lost in there, but it's back.

Doing this via remote from home where I can't hear it, but I see all 64 bit plugins and they load and seem to respond fine in playback.

Obviously, I have to clean up all these VST directories. Is there any harm in moving them so that I end up with say 2 directories... a 32 bit and a 64 bit? I can point to the new folders in SONAR and Sound Forge, but maybe I have to hope for a response from UAD to see if their installation process somehow needs to see the plugins in one place permanently.

Cheers.

Have You tried to do a vst reset and rescan?
Go to Preferences, Vst Settings. Choose Manual scan. Check failed and existing plugins. Press reset.

All the best.

Thanks, Zargg71. Yes I did but as mentioned it didn't help and was almost like it got stuck in the Scan without any dlg box to show progress.

In any event, the plugs show up now. Just want to ensure I clean things up without causing further probs.

Cheers.

JohnrC,

Based on your earlier post today, it sounds like you correctly set the VST Scan Path to the 64-bit UAD plugins located under:  "C:\Program Files\Universal Audio\Powered Plugins\UAD-2 Powered Plugins\".

The "C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Audio\Powered Plugins\UAD-2 Powered Plugins\" are 32-bit versions, and you don't want those. You probably know this already.

I'm assuming you've tried to use "Insert Audio FX" to insert a UAD plugin into the FX rack and can see the UAD effects in the menu.

Please check this too (maybe you did this already):

Open the Utilities > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager
Under "Plug-in Categories",  select the category where the UADs are located. Try this one first: "VST Audio Effects(VST)".
In "Registered Plug-ins", scroll down and find the UAD plugins.  Click on various  UAD plug-ins.
The file names should have a path to the UAD 64-bit location --  there should be no "(x86)" in the path names.
While in the plug-in manager, click on Options and make sure only the UAD 64-bit path shows up.  This verifies that the VST path was setup correctly in preferences.

One other thing:  On the far right side of the Plug-in Manager,  you can navigate to the various UAD items and right click to see the path for each UAD menu entry. If the path is not UAD 64-bit, you'll need to delete the menu entry and add the correct plug-in path.

I'm not familiar with all the details of the plug-in manager.  If you need to edit things, I'm hoping  someone else can chime-in and help you through the process.

Hopefully this helps.
