brothers and sisters,
about a year ago i followed someone's sonar check list on how to make my outboard roland studio capture run smoother with sonar x3d and for the life of me i can't remember how to get back to using my windows sound card for cd architect, movie studio platinum(these programs seem to run off of windows drivers only, not ASIO)
the fix is not as easy as right clicking on the speaker / clicking sounds / "this computer cannot play audio because the windows audio service is not enabled. would yo like to  enable the windows audio service?"  / click yes....no audio devices are installed, nor do the driver updates "you computer is already running the latest"...
so i am wonder if any of you old dogs know what i am talking about? this was a check sum list of how to shut off the windows audio (which was also off in my bios)(is now enabled but still does not show up in cd architect) only middi mapper.
what i thought i remember is doing a "msconfig" and shutting something down there, but sonar x3 had never lived so well on this computer and i am deathly afraid of messing it up"

window 7-64 bit, 16 gig , i7 , studio capture , sonar x3 pro , waves, ozone 7, sound forge, cd architect, movie studio platinum

Hi. Have you enabled your sound card in Device Manager?
Best of luck.

Type "services" in the search box above the start button. Choose the option for "services" with the gear wheel next to it and click that to pop up a window listing the services. Scroll down the list of services to "Windows Audio" and see if it says "started" and if startup type is automatic or manual. If you disabled the service via MSConfig it should show a blank space under status and manual as the startup type. If you disabled it under services (set to manual startup type) then it will say startup type manual, and additionally it will not appear in the list of services available to block via MSConfig.

You might want to go into Windows Device Manager, and see if you had previously Disabled your audio device drivers.  IF so, just right-click on them and click Enable, and they should resuming doing their thing.
