When I try to load any of my P5-Chains using Dimension, I now get an error  stating that "This beta version has expired ....". It doesn't use the VST DimLE that is installed. This precludes use of the Device Chains that came with P5. Is there a way to fix this?

I also notice that the Rapture Device Chains fail to load any more. I have the full VST Rapture as well.

Attempting to re-install P5's Dim disables the updated DimLE-V1.5, but doesn't re-activate in P5 which still reports it as expired.

Essentially all of the Device Chains for P5 are now broken. Bummer!!

I suspect this may be related to the demise of support for the DXI versions of these instruments and cessation of support of the DXI versions which is now creating conflicts.

Is there a fix for these instruments??

$20 still gets the full version of DimPro (VST only though). The device chains were built with DXi versions of the synths. The VST versions are seen as different synths. If you want to use the VST versions, you will need to rebuild the chains. Either that or go back to a configuration that is consistent to when P5 was an actively supported DAW.

I haven't done anything to the DXI versions of the synths that came with P5. They just don't seem to work anymore. Maybe I'll try a new full 'install' of P5 and then update it again. I'm just worried it might mess with the VSTi's already installed and updated. Apparently, the P5 DXIs are custom as well with unique 'program' extensions that aren't compatible with the 'regular' DXIs or VSTs. Thus I'm surprised with the apparent interaction.

What a mess! I don't know how to rebuild the chains since I can't load them to see the patches, effects, etc. Sounds like I'll have to just start over from scratch.

No, the DXis are not special. But you may be stepping on stuff with updates, hard to say with the info at hand. A reinstall not affect the VSTs. Clean up the registry before you start. It is a fairly old piece of software and continually updating everything around the unsupported DAW might be causing you grief.

Any suggestions on how to clean up the registry? I know how to use RegEdit, but I'm not quite sure what I'd be looking for in the reg. I'd do a un-install before re-installing and hope that the un-install would clean up the registry after itself. I have CCleaner, but it seems pretty happy now. Sounds like I'll need to do a full BU before trying that out and just hope it doesn't break X1d. Unfortunately, CakeWalk has files all over the place in multiple custom directories for its instruments.

I did try to install JUST the Dim DXI from the P5 installer, but it generated the same error msg. It also broke my VST DimLE VST which I then had to re-install (v1.5) for some odd reason.

Uninstall does not remove the registry entries. All the Cakewalk registry entries (Except the DX stuff) are in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software". Is this a new installation? What OS, 32bit/64bit? After re-reading your initial message I have to ask, how/why are you running a beta version of any Cakewalk product and posting issues on the user forum? Especially products that are as old as Project 5 and X1? It would make sense that any betas of those products would be expired and would never have been released to user community.

Neither the P5 nor the DXIs/VSTs are betas, which is why I've been confused by the error msg. Its an original P5V2.5 installlation updated to 2.5.1 per CW before being discontinued. Actually, Sonar X1 isn't that old either. I've been using CW stuff since before ProAudio days. I happen to like P5 a lot and find it lot easier to work with than Sonar for starting ideas. I realize P5 isn't being supported, but I posted here since the instruments Dim & Rapture are the source of the problems. And their updates shouldn't have messed with the DXIs, much less the P5 unique DXIs (and its Dim is unique, see some earlier posts).

My installation is a Vista32/SP2 on a pretty vanilla HP PC box with an UA-4FX audio interface.

Some progress anyway.

I cleaned up from Sonar8 and SonarLE. I re-installed P5. No joy. I renamed the DimLE directory in 'Program Files/Cakewalk'. Re-installed the Dim_DXI from P5 which re-created the dir. Now the chains work. Something (perhaps the DimLE that installed with DSF packs, maybe SonarLE, who knows?) apparently corrupted it.

I also had to re-install my Rapture to get a DXI version in place. So, now the chains are loading correctly.

However, my DimLE VST is now missing a gui file and its directory appears to have been overwritten, though only the DXI should have been installed.

It appears that the 'regular' DimLE overwrites the P5 version used with chains even though P5 should just be using the obsolete DXI and the 'regular' version should just be a VST. What a mess.

I'll look into this a bit more tomorrow.

The source of the 'expired beta' appears to be the 'Dimension_LE_1.3_Setup.exe'. I no longer find installers for Dim_LE available, just the updater to 1.5 for Pro & LE which presumes a Dim_LE is already installed. For a brief period I had both the P5 and D1.5 available simultaneously. However, that didn't last.

Without an option to find a valid installer for DimLE, I went ahead a got the D_Pro since it is on sale. I'm hoping that I'll then be able to have the P5_D_LE and then D_Pro side by side. I'm reluctant to fire up the installer for Sonar_X1 just to see if it would allow me to install JUST the D_LE_1.5, but my try that later on.

I've got my serial # for D_LE but there isn't any DL link associated with it, nor is there a DL link on its product page other than for the updater to V1.5. It seems to me that should get fixed.
