Try a reboot. One thing is very cool. When I have the Zoom as default playback/record for win 10, and the Zoom as an interface, it has upped the volume of the output to jet plane levels. I had to turn down my stereo! The Zoom outputs through the sound card in my video card through an HDMI cable.
It outputs hot through the master fader on the Zoom.
If I ever get this working I should have no problems with volume!
So I Tried WASAPI after the reboot and it found the Zoom. It did this whole scan thing and found all of my output hardware and the Zoom.
I will try ASOI again...nope.
Ok.
Now to try and get a signal on a meter.
My mics are plugged into channels 5 and 6 on the Zoom.....
Maybe I am at the "channel 5 to track 5, 6 to 6 as an input part of the process...... so my mic in 5 is on track 5....this is where I get stuck as well.

I made noise through my speakers! From my Mic.
It was my fault for not hitting apply after selecting the Mackie board. What a dunce!

Glad you found the issue! Now perhaps you can understand why it's hard to provide an answer when the problem is user error. It's very hard to guess what kind of mistakes a user will make.

And...thank you for circling back and letting us know how you resolved the issue.

So, I thought I had it licked but got a recording error.
Went back to ASIO.
I can hear the metronome when I press play, as I have the "when play" button clicked.
I have routed my Zoom channel 6 to track 6.
I get a signal from the meter on track 6. Record armed. The output on 6 it to Master. Master is set to Zoom output and that is where I can hear the metronome...
No signal on master out. Blue slider.... no meter activity.... I can't hear the mic, but the meter is not going when I sing.
I can hear "the program" because of the metronome.
Can't hear the mic being picked up on track 6.
The master is not getting the track.
The master has only one selection as an output and it is the Zoom. I hear metronome and see signal, but no track coming to the master.
That seems to be the only thing missing

In preferences, set the metronome to a bus.
In Sonar, Set the bus output to zoom output 1/2
You will then be able to adjust metronome levels with the fader of the metronome bus.

For problems not hearing the track, set the out put of the track to the master bus
Set the master bus output to zoom outputs 1/2

Zoom outputs 1/2 should be going to your speakers.

When the mic is connected to the input, select input 1 L or 1 Left and then press the input monitoring button (see link below)
Make sure the output of the track goes to the master bus.
Set the Master bus to output 1/2

I can record my voice, get the click track. I can at least record! Yeah!
But I cannot hear myself before I record. I hear myself and the click track on playback.
I just want to set levels! I seem to have no signal to the blue slider, the meters don't engage.
Is the blue slider supposed have it's meters going? I have Master selected, blue slider and track 6 in the lower left window.
When I play back, my voice is there, the metronome is there as well. I know I can click the metronome off and on.
I can always hear the metronome when I "engage" it to click with "play". I am monitoring something that lets me hear the metronome.
I feel so close! lol
But not my voice from track 6.

I'm not sure about the R16 as I have an R24, but ... there is a volume control on the back for the outs.  There is also a DIRECT/DAW balance knob.  Both have bitten me.

I just temporarily swapped my Presonus AudioBox 1818VSL with my son for his UR22 from Steinberg.

The UR22 also has a DAW/Input mix knob that I will take a closer look at tonight, as I will be firing up Sonar this evening to knock out some project work, and will be using the UR22 for it.

It does sound like the Input Echo On for the audio track needs to be selected, so that you can monitor audio for that track prior to and during recording/tracking.
