Hi,going back to X3,I loved the Drag an Audio File to a Soft Synth or MIDI track simplicity with the included version of Melodyne, just before upgrading to Platinum, with the quite functional Command Center,I upgraded at a reduced cost of $149.95 USD to Editor, though in Explorer it's called Singletrack, and basically I never should have upgraded as I do NOT want to use it for fixing singing.

All I used to use the version included in X3 Producer for was the "Drag usually a guitar recorded Audio File"and get interesting MIDI files to use with Soft Synths etc,but I'm way out of my depth here, but ALL I want to do is drag a Transposed Guitar part-to sound like a Bass Line[and it does, depending on your opinion of transposed guitar as Bass haha],and then Drag THAT Audio in MONOPHONIC to get the possibility to use a soft synth to get a better sounding Bass part.but with Singletrack/Editor doing so is IMPOSSIBLE,yeah sure Polyphonic,Melodic can produce some interesting results[usually with 10 or 11 thousand unwanted/needed extra notes!],but I Just Want Monophonic back[for a simple MIDI'd Bass part],and I'm finding this is NOT possible with Editor /Singletrack,but it was with Assistant.

Should or could I just move the Singletrack/Editor .DLL,and will Assistant become usable again? [as both .DLL's are visible in Explorer],or shall I just throw that Singletrack Editor away-a bit like flushing $150 USD[ $189.97 AUD] or to get Singletrack/Editor back-would now cost the un-doable $499 USD [$631.97 Aussie Dollars-Yikes].

Obviously I don't want to lose Editor[even if it is version 2.1 or whatever] I just want to drag my dodgy transposed "Single Note" guitar-to Bass Lines, and NOT get 10[or 11] thousand MIDI notes[Polyphonic/Melodic],just a simple approximation of my pseudo Bass, but just as simple, but in MIDI.

For anyone who does NOT know the Assistant version Will NOT run while the EDITOR/singletrack is authorised and installed, and like wise EDITOR/singletrack DOES NOT have the Monophonic option like Assistant does, very annoying, one would think the Assistant Monophonic option would still be available in EDITOR/singletrack,but it IS NOT.
Thanks to any,who understand my blindingly simple, but seemingly impossible conundrum.
Robert

All Fixed! (As if Anyone was going to help anyway?)

Just select the track, choose Region Effects, choose save as MIDI,drop MIDI file into Soft Synth Track, done!
Thanks Guys!
Sincerely

Well,I was TOTALLY Wrong, all I ended up with was the overtly complex parts I did before, and now they don't even seem to be in the right key or anything?

I'm completely stumped, all I want is a MIDI approximation,or midi Track of THE SAME notes I'm playing for a Bass line on normal six string guitar and then transposing -12 semitones so it's the same range as a Bass,I'm sure with Assistant I was able to just Drag the Guitar/Bass Audio into a MIDI or Soft Synth track, and end up with a MIDI file I could then assign a Soft Synth like S.I. Bass Guitar,Dimension Pro's Bass guitars Raptutre Session EBO's to now play the SAME notes on a Soft Synth Bass Instrument with a much better sound instead with Editor/Singletrack with the ONLY options being MELODIC,POLYPHONIC,AUTOMATIC[???]PERCUSSIVE[useless] I end up with a MIDI track with thousands of notes I DO NOT want, instead of just the Bassline?   I give up.

never tried anything like that. I will attempt to recreate the problem and see what happens. standby

Open the Melodyne interface and set the algorithm manually to "melodic". This is the same algorithm that was included and used with the "Essentials" version bundled with X3.

Firstly Thank You for replying: orangesporanges, and Sanderxpander, yes with Singletrack/Editor,setting it to "Melodic" just gives the too many notes saga, but you've given me an idea.I have the boxed version of X3 Producer I wonder if I install X3 producer again on the same computer do you think the X3 PE version of Melodyne Assistant on X3 will work or will the command center re neg. that idea? It's my last ditch effort to not lose the Editor on Platinum, and I can use the simple X3 Melodyne Assistant for these Basslines,I hope Command Centre allows this?
Thanks
Robert

Melodyne has only one executable. So Assistant is effectively the same code, but restricted to subset of Editor functionality. I mean whatever Assistant produce can be produced by Editor.

There are several versions of Melodyne, so Melodyne 4 (Assistant or Editor) is not the same as Melodyne 2 (Assistant of Editor). That can create some difference in results.

Try to make your editor recognize MIDI as you want it (I mean tuning parameters in Melodyne), that can take a while in case you never used its interface before. But that way you can get predictable results even in case automatic conversion does not work.

I think there is a setting in Melodyne which can be changed to reduce the number harmonics Melodyne is detecting as actual notes.  You will probably still need to manually eliminate some of the harmonics.

I'm saying Editor in "melodic" mode does the exact same thing as Melodyne Essentials where it comes to note detection. So perhaps the parts you're trying it on are less well suited than the ones you used before.

Editor does not have Monophonic like Assistant did,or maybe something really  odd is going on
? This Refurb Lenovo W540 does some very weird behaviour.

Basically I just want to drag audio as shown in THE 1st Tutorial EVER of Melodyne in X3,and what I'm getting is 10,000 more notes, regardless of what setting.
