I think there is a setting in Melodyne which can be changed to reduce the number harmonics Melodyne is detecting as actual notes.  You will probably still need to manually eliminate some of the harmonics.

You could be very correct,I really don't know all the settings,it's just for a while it was all good, but last 7 months =bad.

Yes I have noticed a lot less MIDI notes in Editor/singletrack with "melodic" but I'm sure with the very basic "essentials/assistant",that came with X3 I was having none of the million extra note horror that Iv'e been experiencing for far too long,so I'm just going to reinstall/authorize X3 Producer again and see what happens-if Celemony will allow?

Thank You all for your suggestions,it could be with my living alone at the ripe old of 51,that all those years of Rock n Roll excess, that I'm suffering early onset alzheimer's-frighteningly with also the loudest tinnitus[23 years] of anyone Iv'e met/conversed with who also has it,my brain is just saying "enough"!??

You get Melodyne Essentials, not Assistant, with Sonar Platinum (or X3 Producer). Nevertheless, Essentials, Assistant and Editor are literally THE SAME PROGRAM with the availability of features decided by the license you have. So I'll say again, the monophonic/melodic modes are identical. It seems like perhaps your newer source material is less well suited or your recollection is a little off.
