I'm trying to set up my Akai MPK25 MIDI Controller so that it can correspond to the transport commands within Sonar. However, I don't know exactly the steps I need to take. From left to right, the five buttons on the bottom of the control panel of the MPK25, just to the right of the screen are: "Left", "Right", "Stop", "Play", and "Record". "Left" and "Right" are the equivalents of "Rewind" and "Fast Forward". How do I make it so Sonar performs these functions when I push those bottom buttons? All I know is it's a 25-key Akai MIDI controller that has those particular buttons on it, plus some other buttons and knobs, and it comes with a program, VisX MPK25, which is not accessible to the sight impaired.

You will need to configure Control Surface in Sonar. Just for transport you can use Cakewalk Generic Surface or ACT MIDI plug-ins. The instructions can be found in the Sonar Reference Guide. I recommend ask someone to help you with initial setup, the procedure is not strait forward and not accessible.
It is theoretically possible to make specialized accessible setups for your controller and your personal needs. For examples what that can be, read http://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,245.0.html  and both posts from http://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,277.0.html . For demonstration how the second setup is working in practice, you can listen the following youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrerTqQ3pJs
Note that to create such specialized setups we will have to spend significant amount of time online together with me remotely controlling your desktop. By interest, please PM.

I'm not sure that the PM parameter is accessible on this web site. Could you please send me an Email?
