Thanks Gentlemen.   I learned from my Kurzweil forum some years a go, that to use a combination of GM and the on board patches that I would have to switch from Normal to Controller 32 to work properly.  This is from a Kurzweil Tech.  I did as he suggested and it works great.  So now I  can use a combination of Gm & on board patches at the same time.  I generally switch my drums from Gm to some great drums on the Pc3x internal drums.
But a lot of midi files I download, I will switch to the internal patches or a combination with Gm.  The instrument definitions I use on the left I do have Pc3x.ins in setup under preferences.  That doesn't help me to use both Gm & internal Patches on my Pc3x.  By switching all my tracks of a midi file to Controller 32, I can switch between the two formats of Gm or Internal patches. It has always worked for me and not having the button work properly just makes for more time to setup my files the way I wish.  But having the button working make it a whole lot easier and faster to setup my tracks.
 
Thanks Brando for your input.  So it isn't my system that is not working properly.  It is a software problem.
