  • Where is the MASTER track gone?

Seems a stupid question:
If I create a 16 track project, all tracks are being routed to the MASTER.
Now in my project I have 16 MIDI tracks which of course trigger instruments.
Some audio output of thise instruments is being routed to busses to have a "common FX" applied to the sounds. Some others go "out", I can hear them, but the output isn't "MASTER".
Now I am almost ready with the mix and wished to add some mastering applications to the MASTER.
But I do not seem to find that console anymore.
I cannot have deleted that, can I ?
But if I could have done so, how can I get a new one?
I know, that's a dummy one. But I can't finish my thing.
Of courde I could do a raw mix, and remaster that in a new project.
The disadvantage is, if I find that after mastering an instrument is to prominent, I first have to readjust everyting in the raw mix and do things again. I need the MASTER back in my original project. Pleeeeeaaazzzzzzz.

Yes, it is just a check mark next to "Set as Default Bus" on the context menu of a bus labeled Master.

Right-click a bus and enable "Set as Default Bus." All future buses, audio and instrument tracks will automatically set their output to the default bus. Select all existing tracks as necessary to re-route them to the new bus. Rename the new default bus as needed.

I do not see a bus labeled Master. :-(  And I do not see such a thing as "Set as Default Bus".

When I can see that I will try it out.
Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Here is a Track View bus area of a project without a "Master" bus and how to create it.

The only thing special about the master bus is the "Set as Default Bus" option on the bus context menu.

Looks nice, but: I could create that bus only in the console view. And now, upon starting playback, I hear only a deafening double click, the new Master bus shows extreme clipping, and then: nothing. total silence. And that "Set as default bus": I do not see it. Well, I do not know how this would look in the language I am using by default (German), but from the meaning of the command it should be something like "Als Standard Bus setzen". But I don't see anything comparable or equivalent to this.
I also note, in my track view the tracs have numbers, your screenshot shows letters. Seems I got it all wrong.

In scook's screenshot, those are buses, not tracks.

In the track view, tracks are numbered, buses have letters. The documentation for the track view is here. It includes a section on the bus pane. There is a button at the bottom of the track pane to show/hide the bus pane.

The Console View has similar context menus as the Track View.

There is not enough information to discuss the result of adding the bus. Your posts lack any hardware or software specs.

You can create a new bus when you insert an audio track.

http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Arranging.04.html

Scroll down to "Create audio tracks", and you will see an option "Create Bus" (Assign the new track output(s) to a new stereo bus.)

The busses in the project are viewable in the bus strips in the track pane (if they are hidden, you may need to slide them up with the mouse), as well as the bus strips in the console view.

You can see "Set as default bus" in the console view too. I guess because you are right clicking at wrong area. (i.g. at Volume slider, at Level meter, etc.)
Please try to right click at empty area in I/O area of any bus in the console view, you should be able to see "Set as default bus". (Als Standardbus definieren)

Ok I got it so far. I can see the busses now. I also could define ne the as default bus.
Thanks to you for your patience with me.
Still I do not get to hear most of the instruments, although I switched their OUT to the new Master bus (There are some sharing one bus for a shared Sound FX, though). Only the deafening double click.
