To begin...yeah, I know it's Sonar Producer 6 and I need to upgrade. Two kids in college and another on their heels. Someday...but for now:
I've been using Sonar Producer 6 for several years on a Windows XP machine. HDD crashed from age. I have a refurbished tower running Windows 7 [Dell OptiPlex 760 DT, Intel Core 2 Duo, 3.00GHz, 8GB RAM, 1 TB HD]. All data was preserved/transferred from previous HD; but I am, of course, having to reinstall software. While the reinstall/registration process seems to have worked (multiple attempts, 32bit, 64bit - you name it), Sonar is not responding well. Issues...
-Pyro 5 is missing.
-Loudness maximizer (related to Pyro?) is missing.
-TTS-1 (in fact, ALL instruments) will load but will not play - even pressing "demo" button for a patch doesn't play. Nothing on a meter moves indicating audio.
-Previous projects - if they include audio tracks - will not play at all. (I can see and even export the audio tracks as mp3/.wav and play them; but project just sits there and looks at me when I press "play".) MIDI projects will "play" - as in the measures and time are moving - but no audio.
-The audio engine button is completely unresponsive.

I'm inclined to think I have some sort of single "global" issue. Probably easily solved...if I know what to do. I've attempted running audio using MME, WDM and ASIO drivers/settings, and all bus/routing settings seem correct, but all without success. Audio outside of Sonar works fine. (By the way, audio interface is a Behringer U-Phoria, UMC204HD.) I would be grateful for any insights.

Thanks~~~Steve

I haven't researched, but does this audio interface have a Win7-specific driver?

Some things to check/try:

- If it supports both ASIO and WDM driver modes, try whichever one you are not currently using (I prefer ASIO).
- Make sure channels of the Behreinger are assigned as Playback and Record Timing Masters.
- Make sure both the Metronome and Clock Source are set to Audio.
- Try increasing your ASIO/WDM buffer size.
- Try enabling input echo on an audio track.
- Install the demo version of some other DAW app, and see if it can use the audio driver.

Pyro is not included with Sonar 6. It's a separate install.

Thanks for the replies. I started by trying an Ableton demo - which worked perfectly. I upped the buffers and made sure the Record/Timing Masters were properly checked. Things work now! Thanks so much.

Thanks also for the Pyro insight. Not sure how I ended up having that, since it's not something I would typically buy. It might have come with the set initially or something like that.

Grateful!

Sonar Artist is only $60.. Certainly you can spring for that. I'm pretty sure Sonar 6 never worked on W7. Sonar 7 and 8.5 did.
