The new Tungsten theme in Sonar is stored in a file TungstenTheme.fth located in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum. This file is a Windows DLL containing the images and colors as resources. You can edit it with resource tools like Resource Hacker.

So, to edit an existing theme or create your own theme, you simply make a copy of the file TungstenTheme.fth and replace the PNG resource images with modified versions or your own images. The name and description for the theme is in the string table resource 1242. However, you may need to do any editing outside of the Sonar folder, because the Program Files folder has restrictions for editing files.

BTW, the original theme (now called Mercury) is in the file TTSImage.dll.

i'm surprised they haven't got rid of the embedded resource paradigm for the new ui themes

Quite complicated for someone with zero understanding of editing. All I want to do is change everything orange to a different color...

Cakewalk announced that there will be a theme editor later. But I guess this still will require to edit every image that uses a particular color you want to change.

Ralf, that was a useful input. I decided to give it a quick try on my Sonar X1 LE version I still have so that I don't screw up anything big time on my S-Platinum. Guess what, it turned out quite impressive for me. I ended up creating a multicolored theme for the console view. But I would admit this is quite a tedious route as I had to literally scroll to each object and try to figure out which part it belonged to. Anyways, here's my Multi-coloured console theme

I'd be pretty happy to have the fx bin plugs match the track color automatically when you choose a track color.

Were you able to adjust the fix bin plugs, ramscapri?

?

That image you posted didn't post right. It's just a blank. I would like to see what you came up with, so you can maybe share it with the community.

Can you repost to get the image to come out right?

So.... Can that be used to change the FX on/off grey(s) to (an)other color(s) that users have requested for over a year?

Its actually the most efficient and preferred way to reference resources rather than loading thousands of external image files. It would prohibitively slow down the time to start the app and be far more error prone if something gets corrupted.
Our theme editor automatically handles this so there is no reason to use external tools.

This is pretty much the same conclusion I came to when I started to use resource hacker to view the images in the TungstenTheme.fth file.   There are hundreds of them...  I just don't have that kind of time to go through and modify each one.....

I am just going to wait for the theme editor.
