  • What exactly is wrong with iLok/PACE/Slate in SPLAT..?

I don't know if anyone else has this issue:

The only iLok plugs I run is Slate's stuff so it's hard for me to say where the problem lies, but very often SPLAT can not find Trigger 2.0 when opening an existing project. I also get some error messages regarding some of the Slate plugs I do not own but are loaded on the system as part of their bundle. The only way to get around it is to close Sonar through Task Manager and restart.

I googled the issue and PACE recommends that IF something like this occurs one should restart their app in Windows services... basically making the coding problem a user work-around. It does work, but it's a serious pain/time waster.

Slate suggested I reinstall both their plugs and the PACE drivers... which I have done several times to no apparent improvement.

Anyone have some input on this?

Thanks a plenty.

I have never understood the Ilok.
the more they try to protect their software, the more it turns some people off from using it.
so imo, it evens things out.

I don't have any Slate stuff, and I've never had an iLok problem in Sonar.  My iLok goes back to at least X1 and maybe earlier.  I have a couple of Antares items, two Izotope, POD Farm and a Lexicon.

I have all the slate plugins and I have not hadone an issue with the inew Sonar.

And I've used them under Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 all 64 bit.

Once in a blue moon, the Pace service fails to start - I just go into the service control panel applet and manually start it. It's a pretty rare occurrence.

I have quite a few plugins that are ilok enabled and I can honestly say that I've not had any problems so long as I keep the software updated.

I noticed this problem with Pro Tools 12 on Win 7 I had to go into services and enable pace every time I started my machine. Since upgrading to Win 10 I haven't seen this happen. Sorry its not really a fix but thought I'd share anyway. Oh and to the Poster that cant understand any advantage of the Ilok, I have one! I have several machines I use, One desktop and one Laptop at home, one Mac Pro at my main studio and one Hackentosh at my partners studio
and when it comes to using software that only allows use on one machine at a time, it becomes a real pain in the balls when they don't support Ilok. Addictive drums II for example, if it used Ilok for copy protection I could use Addictive on all my machines, but alas I cannot. Oh well on the brite side we all have an incredible amount of tools these days.
Look at the silly crap we have to complain about! Go make Art!

It's hard to pin down, for sure. But it's always my Slate stuff that complains..

Ludwig, I have no idea if this is connected but I had a problem with iLok, which was not starting on Boot but gave no such warning.  Consequently when I went to use an iLok protected plug it reported as being not found.  Checking to see if the service was running I discovered it had not started.  When I contacted iLok they recommended that I set the iLok to have a delayed start in services.  Since making this change I have not had any further problems with my iLok protected plugs.  I should probably say I have no Slate plugs.
