Sonar X3e: Why do imported files get tossed thousands of measures away from where I drag&drop them? Like literally to measure #2749, when I dragged the file to measure #4 or whatever. It's a reoccuring problem which seems that it may not begin at all, but once it begins, it's staying that way for that project file. Sometimes it starts right away. It starts to feel pretty stupid after a few occurences when you're working in a hurry, and every file you drop on the timeline is thrown off, and you have to scroll thousands of measures to find it and fix the mistake manually. Even then if you cut and paste it, it may STILL be thrown back to some other measure. It's like the program is mocking you, it's just absurd. It also happens if I do it via Import command from the menu.

Please help if someone can!

The question is how far away from the now marker are they Thrown.

Cheers

Be sure you have place at clip time stamp off.

Broadcast Waves import issue; imported wave files appear at the wrong location
Sometimes when importing a wave file into a project, it may import way out into the project. A common symptom
of this issue is seeing an empty track with dots, indicating there is data later in the track.
This issue has to do with how the type of wave file itself is formatted. It is most likely a Broadcast Wave file that
contains an embedded timestamp. You can configure SONAR to obey or ignore the timestamp when importing
Broadcast Wave files:
1. Go to Edit > Preferences > File - Audio Data.
2. Clear the Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp check box, then click OK.
Broadcast Wave files will now import at the project’s Now time.

There's a setting for that.  Until you change it, Sonar is set to use the timestamp of the imported audio.

The default was changed with SONAR 2015 so new users wouldn't have this problem.
