I am using a Tascam FW-1884, and also V-Control Pro on an iPad for remote control.

A Korg NanoKontrol. I set it up years ago in Sonar 8.5. The settings transferred over when upgrading to X1 and X2, so no setup whatsoever was required. It currently works flawlessly in X2.

I almost bought the NanoKontrol (I already own its brethren, the Korg NanoPad2) but there are things I don't want (like all the faders and pan pots) which take up a lot of room, and the things I do want (transport controls) are rather small relative to the overall unit.  I know it's not a big unit, but it would be nice if they could just create a dedicated transport controller with nothing else.  Simple, limited use but effective.

Another BCF2000 user here.   Mostly for faders and pan kobs, and the occasional Mute/Solo/Record.   But some day I'll remember the transport combos and other nifty stuff it does.

Hey, bitman

Pls post a picture of that set-up. Quite a while I had thought about going this way, too, building some custom solution based on BCFs/BCRs, but ended up with a good deal on a VS-700 ... which I'm rather happy with, apart from the fact Cake usually needs about 4 versions until they make new features work with the VS-700 (was the case with the ProChannel that didn't work until X2a, and same now with FX chains ...)

I really want a simple controller that has nothing more than the basic transport controls.  BIG buttons that do the following:
- START, STOP, PAUSE, REWIND, RECORD

That's it.  Five large buttons that I can easily tap with minimal effort and without having to look at the device to see what I'm doing.  Nothing more, nothing less.  It would be nice if it worked immediately "out of the box", and even better if it was wireless.

Make one, and I'll buy it.
VA, I know this isn't what you asked for, but this is what I use for my media PC and what I intend to use in my studio once I begin tracking my vocals on my upcoming projects. It's wireless, and gives you access to every key-binding you could ever think of. Keys are small, yes, but they are backlit and the unit itself is small, which is a huge plus. Oh yeah - it's really cheap, too. (the losguy really likes that )

Marcus, do you know whether the converters in the VS-100 as good as the ones in the V-Studio 700? How well does it integrate with X2?    Thanks, Jonathan
