  Marcus, do you know whether the converters in the VS-100 as good as the ones in the V-Studio 700? How well does it integrate with X2?  Thanks, Jonathan

You know I am not really sure. I started looking at the 700 then I discovered it was way out of my price range. They are probably pretty close to the same specs in certain areas. The pre amps are pretty good on the VS-100. 24 bit 96k is the highest sample rate on the VS-100. not sure if that is the same for the 700.


The one thing I really like about it is the play, stop,  and record buttons. It works pretty well with act. It is nice being ready to record and being some distance from the computer and hitting the record button. 
it really comes in handy when you record yourself. 

Another nice part of the VS-100 is the footswitch ability...that is very nice when recording. I have mine setup just like Charlie said serveral posts above...

I use a BCF2000. It works pretty good in Mackie mode and can do alot.
I can even sometimes control effects with it, but not vsti's. I also like the flying faders.
I do find myself wishing I could control more, but it beats using a mouse for everything.

I am using a Mackie Control Universal (MCU) with my Sonar X2 and it works quite well.

But since Sonar X1 the program loose the US-224 constantly, what a nightmare...

VS-700 

I use an BCF2000, an Steinberg CMC-PD padcontroller, and the controls on my Studiologic VMK-88 plus (the only -for me- affordable keyboard that has 88 keys with aftertouch). All work perfect with Sonar (and also with Live 8 and Cubase 7).

Frontier Tranzport - works great with Win 7 X64 and Sonar X2.
