Chuckebaby, Thinking about the VS-20. Problem right now is finding one for sale in Canada. What foot switches are you using for control options? I saw that the Vs20 takes pedals, etc. and wondered about that. Single button for punch in, punch out? But what about those transport controls? play/stop/rewind? Newbie to this type of gear. Just starting out with X2-Studio too, so I will definitely have a look at those tutorials. Thanks, wolf

I use 2 foot switches with the VS-100...A Blackstar Channel switch and a Boss FS-6...extremely easy to set up...all in the VS100 manual...got one set for playback/Stop and the other set for record/rewind myself...

Hi Albert

As I don't use external footswitches with my V-S 20, I can't tell you which type of switch to use (I'm sure Charlie will be able to let you know when he sees your post), but here are the functions you can assign:

If you want me to send you the PDF manual so you can take a better look at the V-S 20's capabilities, just send me a Private Message with your email address and I'll send it to you.

Edit to add: Albert, the Boss FS5-U they recommend is an Unlatching footswitch (the FS-6 can be assigned latch-type or momentary-type).

I'm using a Frontier tranzport in 1 room and V-Control in another and an M-Audio Projectmix in the Control Room.

Build chronicled here.

Not to interfere with this cool thread here, but you Sir, (said with a salute) are a maniac! Hahaha! I read that whole thread from the time the idea of the poster hit you like a ton of bricks, to completion. That was a really awesome read as well as seeing how you did it all and shared how it came together. Really fine work, bitman. I wish you lived closer to me, I'd pay to have you build me one just like yours. I have nothing in my little man cave and have been looking for something for a long time now.

I had the coolest little thing that worked perfect for me. No mechanized faders or anything, but JL Cooper made this little mini desk. I still have it here and it was beautiful for what it was. 32 channels...smaller than a piece of paper. Wait, let me find it.

Unfortunately, the XP midi driver for it will not work in Win 7. I even begged the company to update the driver for me and offered to pay them. It's probably so easy for a code guy to do. It made me want to try and learn code because I'm so bummed that I can't use this piece.

Anyway, I just wanted to give you props for your awesome accomplishment. It was great to see a Sonar brother shining over at GS where people were kind enough to praise you without knocking you down or competing with you.

In regards to the thread: I use a Tranzport CS in my man cave, but only for my drums since it's wireless. No reason to really use it at my mixing desk as it doesn't really give me enough options...but it sure is cool.

At my real studio, we're using a Tascam DM 4800 console in our main room which joins up with Sonar perfectly. In our B room we have the Mackie Control Universe with the extenders. No issues with it at all with Sonar or anything else we use.

Thanks Steve, and Frosty. That opens up some great possibilities. Now to find one......... Better get myself a cool signature with my backline, and some pithy quotes and a profile pic too! How long did it take to build Rome?
