I have a Pedal Steel Guitar track icon I use.  If Cakewalk wants it let me know.

Cool tip.

I use my own icons, colour coded the same as the tracks to help my poor low-contrast eyesight:

I like it! Sometimes the text gets jammed up. That's nice to have familiar blocks to help the eyes navigate quickly.

No offense Steve but isn't it redundant to use the same color as the track and the same track LABEL as your icon?

Good idea though before CAKE added the track color option.  All the power to you if this is your workflow (who am I too judge)?

I do like the idea of people pictures or real gear pictures but has anyone converted a persons picture to a 24x24 bitmap?  How does it look?

I think his icons are probably easier to parse quickly than the track labels.

I use pictures of vocalists, in this example it's me. The one on the left is the main vocal. The one on the right is harmonies.

Not 24x24, but 96x96 & it looks ok - BTW didn´t Cakewalk increase the maximum recommended size to 128x128 a while back?

(If this pic-thing works, new to imgur) The ugly one on the far right is me
Another good, free photoeditor, which I´ve used for years is Paint.NET www.getpaint.net
It´s great for a lot of things, from basic editing to adding text & odd shapes.

Scott Garrigus reminded me that it's 128X128 and that's on page 76 of Sonar X3 Power.

Craig,

Thanks for posting what a photo looks like in a TRACK ICON.... looks pretty good.  Might be the solution for instruments... getting photos from the NET and converting them.

Thanks again,
Jim
