I have been playing around trying to do an acapella version  of a Christmas Song that I like. I am using Melodyne alot on this experiment so I am not sure the fault I am experiencing is due to CbB or to Melodyne.  What is happening is the functionality of the software seems to quit at times requiring that I save the session,  close CbB, shut down the software, and restart.  After restarting the functionality is once again restored. Occasionally I am getting a Audio Engine error message or a "fatal" shutdown message.  I can get into more details but I am wondering if any one else is experiencing similar issues  with  CbB or is it just my lack of knowledge and bad luck.

If you have to reboot, I'd make a guess that it's something to do with the drivers for your audio device. Unless you find you are using older drivers for which there is an update, this tentative diagnosis won't do you much good, however. Occasionally, I find that unplugging the USB cable from my Roland Quad Capture will free things up, so I can close Cake and restart without rebooting. On most occasions, I can't avoid the reboot.

If you’re using Melodyne a lot then i find its better to use it on small vocal parts then bounce to clips after any corrections have been done. I always split my voal parts into short lengths before applying Melodyne.

This does take some time, but by doing that i’ve never experience your type of problem.

Good luck,
Jerry

Thanks, folks, for the feedback!  I have been working on smaller chunks at a time and saving them so that I don't have to start form scratch when I run into a glitch ... which is a fairly frequent occurrence! BY the way the issue does not require a re-boot of the computer.

Try deleting AUD.INI from %APPDATA%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core

Cakewalk will recreate it once you restart.

If you're still seeing issues after this, re-install your audio drivers and delete AUD.INI again.

Some users have reported that a message box pops up behind the main window where it can't be seen, and any attempt to operate the main window is futile until the message box is dismissed. You can try your windows tricks (e.g. alt-tab) to see if you can find it.
