Simon's book is a good one. If learning by example is preferred, the Universal 120 V2.0 - Rapture Expansion Pack http://www.store.cakewalk...ductid=10-FIUN1.00-20E is a great resource. Not just for the presets but the LFO, EG and SG files and documentation are a very nice toolkit for new patches.

Thanks for the help All. I've gone back to university (after a few decades) and my wife just lost her job, so I've sworn an oath to not spend a penny until she's back at work. I'm looking forward to getting Simon Cann's Cakewalk synthesizer book as well as his "How to Make a Noise: Sample-Based Synthesis" book. And I'll grab the Univeral 120 collection as well.

In the meantime, I'm going to start reading the 4000+ posts that have been written to this forum since November 2005 and also dissecting the samples I do have.

Should keep me busy for a while.
