I want to know what control surfaces people are using with Sonar Platinum? I am trying to decide on a control surface and want to make sure I get a good one that works really well with Sonar Platinum.
I have been told by a few people to get off Sonar and all Cakewalk crap and get on a better DAW but this is what I learned on and am comfortable with and want to find the best hardware match for this software.

Thanks Kevin

I use a Presonus Faderport. Works well in Sonar Platinum, or any other version for that matter. It does what I need it to do, and it's inexpensive.

Working out of the box:
MCU for many strip mixing
Faderport, Alphatrack (discontinued) for one strip in a time mixing
Nektra Impakt for simple controls
Akai/NI/Novation for plug-ins control (in that respect there is no difference from other DAWs).
VS-700 (discontinued) for all operations, still the only solution with most functions

If you have time and willing:
Take any surface you can find and make it work as you want. It is possible and not so hard, no special knowledge required. The result depends from your dedication and device hardware functionality.

I'm still using my Behringer BCF-2000 control surface.  Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum.
I was hoping to replace the BCF-2000 with the new Behringer control surface but that has turned out to just be "vaporware".

Still haven't got my Win 10 download on the music comp. Have it on internet comp for more than a month. I use a Mackie MCU and 1 extender for DAW and will be using an Akai Advance 49 for plugins. And a wireless QWERTY keyboard with transport controls.

And if you are going to intensively use stock ProChannel modules, BCR-2000 is the only way to control all of them without switching

Mackie Control Universal Pro with Extender. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I wish Cakewalk would invest just a bit more energy into this unit though, like remembering the darn thing(s) when you forget to turn them on before you start Sonar. That said, they have been pretty solid for me.
